Poor. I've had a lot of issues in my life at that time and was looking for help in various Christian literature; however, I have found little help if any at all. This kind of gospel was never preached by the Early Church Fathers (apart from Augustine - but he came much later) . I prefer to read them. I've moved on from these kind of teachings as I didn't find them helpful or accurate. I liked to some degree some other Keller books but not this one. Pastor Keller is very articulate, clever and with high self-esteem. These are all the most important qualities of pastors in the Evangelical church nowadays. And probably that's why he's followed and promoted by so many in the Evangelical world.
This is a must have book for anyone wrestling with reconciling their commitment and service to God and humanity, with a calling and commitment to business, professional or public service of any kind.
Tim Keller is a highly respected Christian minister; but this book should be read by anyone who is torn between devoting their life in service to God and humanity, and using their skills and talents in the marketplace, or to make a real difference in lifting the human condition.
Keller argues that there is no conflict, and guides the reader with soundly structured arguments and clear examples from the lives of people he's work with (and biblical references) as he explains that God expects us to serve him and humanity through our work, by living out values that lift the standards of excellence of product and service delivery in a way that strengthens families, communities and nations.
I bought this as a gift for my partner who sometimes struggles with work and how it relates to God and what God's plan is for his life. I haven't read it but he said that just with every Tim Keller book it is just great! It is thought provoking but easy to read, he explains everything clearly, it's relatable. It's the best book he has read on work, it gets to the route of issues and is very encouraging. It is definitely worth reading and making time to read it
I chose a five star rating because the book delivered more than I hoped for. The author clearly illustrates a way that God wishes to be active in every part of our lives. i would recommend this book to everyone.
