How are ratings calculated?
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we do not use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.

4.0 out of 5 stars Quick read - Great experiential ride though a career with lessons

Build was a well written, easy to read book from the perspective of the career choices, failings at different jobs and point perspectives around challenges either from technology, customer feedback, culture or taking the wrong path - the author provides multiple examples of a career - that while tech newness flowing in the dotcom heyday exposes the same challenges you still often see today - approaches that may not fit the environment, culture or team or are just plain wrong. This book is worth the time to read.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great grad gift + for young professionals
Reviewed in Canada πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦ on 28 May 2022

Forthright, irreverent, easy-to-read guidance on career, work, making things, and climbing the ladder. Making mistakes and failure become virtues to make you more aware and stronger, and although it's a small sample size of key product examples (iPod, iPhone, Nest), they are a treasure trove of anecdotes and pithy commentary.

For an experienced manager/CEO, the chapters on organization are rudimentary and pedantic, but it's a great gift for new grads and young professionals.
