I don't think I want to know what's in it, given that it works so well, but I used as directed in my 10lb portable washer and the heavy calcium lime buildup from our salty tap water disappeared. Granted, it's only two-year's worth, but still great.
I also ran it thru the coffee pot, which has been triggering the clean light after a week or two with a vinager rinse. That made me nervous, and I ran a full clean again after and a full pot after that to make sure no residue would get into his coffee. Time will tell if it helped clean it better than the vinegar, but the maker is only a year old, so we had to try saving it.
I had never used CLR before, and my husband said that we should try it on our bathroom sink. The faucet and the aerator had a lot of calcium and lime deposits, and the water was barely coming out of the faucet. We let the aerator soak in the CLR for a few minutes, and put it back on the faucet, and the water flowed out normally like it did when we first moved in our home. Thanks CLR!
Didn't work. There are stains on the bottom of my bathtub that have been covered by the apartment non-slip covering for who knows how long. I tried white vinegar (my go-to cleaner) and finally tried CLR. I wore a mask and gloves and followed the instructions on the bottle (3 times) and it didn't affect the stains at all. Then after working with the CLR for less than 10 minutes and completely rinsing it out of my tub with cold water (like the instructions say), I felt dizzy and had a horrible headache for hours.
I was very disappointed with this product. The directions say to leave CLR on your surface for 2-3 minutes, but the solution is so thin it won't maintain wetness for that long. We have municipal water from Lake Michigan that leaves calcium deposits on our shower doors. This product did very little to remove the tough stains. I even soaked our metal soap caddy in it to remove the rust, but no luck there either. You would do just as well with Zep or another less caustic brand. This purchase was literally money down the drain.
New cleaning lady cleaned my toilet with a PUMICE STONE that removed the finish on my brand new toilet. Whic made the toilet flush like it was coated in Teflon. Now there is a ring in my toilet that won’t come off...EVER!
I use this product to clean my coffee maker every month on the 1st. It works great and helps to keep my coffee maker brewing good. I always notice a bit of a difference in the taste of my coffee right after cleaning. Better taste and stronger. Works fine to clean other things in the bathroom as well (Worked great on my shower rod. Made it nice an smooth for the hooks to glide across).
