This Gorilla duct tape is far better than some others brands I've tried. I recently bought some 3M/Scotch duct tape in black and white. Can't go wrong with 3M right? Well I was wrong! The 3M colored duct tape is now made in China and their duct tape was thinner and less adhesive unless I bought their original grey Made in the USA stuff.
So I decided to try this Gorilla duct tape. I got one roll of white and two of black. The material is the same between the colors. It is odd though that the white rolls have 30 yards of tape and the black have 35 yards of tape.?????
This is so much better than 3M's colored duct tape! First it's even thicker than the original grey 3M type. It therefore is great for laying down flat on a surface without it bunching up on itself. It's great at holding cables down to a floor crossing. It tears just like the original duct tape does either width-wise or length-wise. And I found the adhesion fantastic! It seems to stick to just about any clean surface. It works as packing tape, repair tape, and even tape that is somewhat resistant to moisture (although I wouldn't soak or immerse it for much time). It can repair holes, tape cables or parts together, or cover surface blemishes.
Now in some ways, it's great adhesion can also be a detriment. Don't stick it to areas that are made of disintegrating parts, freshly or weakly painted objects, or parts you can't clean the adhesive off of. This tape does leave adhesive behind or it rips the surface off of dry wall or similar porous surfaces. if it gets a good grip on the surface and you try to peel it off it may damage what it was taped to. It's not to be used as masking tape. And don't get it near a drainage system of any kind because it can make a horrible clog if it gets into a pipe.
I've used small pieces of it in strips to help route low voltage, low heat cables in equipment like my 3D printers. I use it as strong packing tape. I use it to hold down cables as they cross doorways. I've used it between surfaces to keep vibration noises low. I've used it to bundle cables temporarily so it's easily tearable to remove yet holds them together in storage. I've even used the stuff to temporarily hold torn or poorly fitting fabric in place till I can sew it. It's fabric type internal weaving makes it something that can be shaped around some unusual shaped forms.
I'm loving this more than the 3M stuff I used to rely on till it started being made thinner and more plastic-like. I'm sold on this stuff! Please don't start compromising on this great quality product as other manufacturers have. This Gorilla duct tape is the best duct tape I've tried.
Hands down the best duct tape I've ever used. Thick adhesive and tough tape. If you want to secure something with duct tape this is the stuff to use. If you don't want it to tape it twice then use this awesome tape. If you don't want to get it stuck then don't use this tape! when using don't let it stick to itself. Otherwise its easiest to just rip another piece then get this undone from itself. I used this to tape to tape a piece of ice guard to the front of a hydraulic control box since the metal cover broke off. The metal was dry when applied. That was several months ago, and the ice guard has started to crack, but the tape is still holding strong even though it has been soaked many times. Just really good tape. Tears fairly easy as well. Oh, if its been on a while it may remove the paint, so be careful of what you apply to. Thanks Amazon and Gorilla!
