How are ratings calculated?
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we do not use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not what I expected and I'm a big fan of Streamlights

The flashlight construction is very good. The run time is great, and the operation is very simple BUT people need to be aware that there is no light spill. You're only getting a small bright spot instead. For that size of flashlight, you better get some spill. In a pitch black situations you really can't see around you that much and you have to keep pointing your flashlight exactly to where you need to walk or move. Maybe I'm picky but I've tried other angle flashlights and they do a better job lighting up a bigger area. I run low voltage cables above drop ceiling and attics and an angle light helps me a lot.

3.0 out of 5 stars Does NOT pass this firefighter's standards! FAIL!

Piece of junk. I tried twice, and it failed both times. I'm a Firefighter, and I won't buy this flashlight again. The LED failed the 1st time because water infiltration and corrosion, and they replaced it for free (good). The 2nd flashlight failed because of the (brittle) bezel cracked and couldn't tighten.

3.0 out of 5 stars Better than issued but not the best out there.

I have had this light for over a year now and it still functions as a dependable flashlight. What I like about it is that it is easy to turn on/off with all of the turnout gear on and gloves. The flashlight clip is also very strong. What I don't like about it is that the on/off switch is multi-functional; there have been times that I accidentally (with gloves) turned my light on to strobe and blinded people on scene. There were also times were I had help the button down too long and got a low, inefficient, beam. I also do not care for how it holds or carries on my turnout coat. It has an awkwardness about it and carrying the light with a tool is not practical. It also gets caught on my SCBA all the time.

This doesn't seem like the streamlight brand... Very dull, and light weight. The last structure fire I was in, it failed me...

3.0 out of 5 stars Misleading Product Description

"Dual power source: Rechargeable NiCd battery; also accepts 4 “AA” alkaline batteries"

The product title says Alkaline model but the product description has the above bullet in it. Beware that this model is not rechargeable and only has the battery option available.

I'm a volunteer firefighter in a brigade in the NSW Rural Fire Service, Australia and we have purchased 16 of these to replace our current Pelican Sabrelights. The difference between those and these is night and day, especially when used on our CABA sets.
The brightness of these is fantastic and they appear to be built tough to take the knocks and bumps of operational use, with long battery life.
The fact that they take AA batteries makes them a simple change in the field. I would highly recommend them to any firefighter.
Two members of our brigade are full time firefighters with Fire & Rescue NSW and they have purchased them for their full time use and their colleagues are amazed so much so that they are now purchasing them.

Edit 16 Sept 2013, unfortunately after purchasing 31 of these flashlights, we have experienced a high failure rate where the light will not come on sometimes. Of the 31 units purchased, 7 have failed in this way, mostly in emergency situations such as where we were using two to provide illumination for a persons trapped extraction. It would seem to be linked to the internal battery case as swapping cases solved the problem.

I and my brigade are less than happy and have lost confidence in the ability of these units to provide consistent and reliable light, such that we are considering removing them from our CABA sets. I will get in touch with Amazon to see if they have anything to add.

I am sure this is a great light. I purchased this for a fireman based all the fireman reviews. The problem was parts were missing from the battery compartment. Amazon could not have been any better. They even offered free next delivery. Again I would not hesitate buying this light again from amazon. The 3 stars were due missing parts

3.0 out of 5 stars Comes with AA batteries. Not rechargeable
Reviewed in the United States on 20 June 2016

The light is great however it shipped with 4 AA batteries and not the normal rechargeable cell. It's my own fault for not reading the fine print but xconsidering this normally comes with a rechargeable cell sticking 4 AAs in it and not listing that in the product headline is a bit misleading
