Upon opening noticed several chips and rust and stuff on the bottom, almost like it has been used already. Disappointing for my first cast iron purchase and amount paid. Refund is not an option so here is to hoping it was worth it!
Received my lodge dutch oven today. Packaging was poor and beat up. I love cast iron cookware and was very disappointed with this. Dutch oven was half covered in rust. So much for the pre seasoned. Looks poor quality compared to any of my other cast iron cookware. Will never purchase another Lodge product.
This pot would rust a lot, regardless how many times you wash it and wipe it. Not sure if it’s safe to use it at all as it can go into food. Also, it came chipped on the lid and handle. If it was $30, would worth it, but not $83.
Did I get a factory second? I’ve purchased Lodge before and the quality of this seems way down. It came with a chip on the handle and worse, the black coating was chipping off the lid and that’s just a way for rust to get in and destroy the lid. Furthermore, the inside of the pot is very rough...I can imagine cleaning this pan will be a nightmare. I’m no stranger to cast iron... having Lodge and Le Creuset for many years.
Pre-seasoning appears to be flaking in multiple places right out of the box. I had a cast iron skillet before, seasoned it and it never looked like this. Never had problems with rusting. I'm reading reviews of others having rust issues? I also read some reviews about scrubbing to remove this pre-seasoning and seasoning it yourself, but that makes no sense to me. I thought the reviews were bogus, but maybe not. I'm now noticing that the 7 quart model has bad reviews, but the 2 qt appears to get all great reviews. I'm returning this and finding a different product.
