While this cream stick is the perfect shade of red and has a really good amount of coverage, even when set with powder you are unable to blend additional powders on top. Maybe it’s my ignorance and SFX makeup, but traditionally I said foundation with powder and use powder to contour. When attempting to use a black powder as contour, all of the red started removing from my face and latching onto my powder brush, I tried several different approaches to this and I could not get it to work. I even tried a black contour cream which just made it look muddy. I will say, in the end, I ended up using a concealer to highlight my face and using the red stick by itself as the darker points of my face because it was just too complicated. I also used a standard black brow marker and that also removed the red make up super easily. So just beware when using this that the product does not stay on your face very well, I even used many primers. In the end I was able to get it to work for myself but definitely take some time to practice.
I usually adore Mehrons products, but this cream stick was not my fav. While it spreads quite well with sponge only the problem for me lay in how it came off over time. Once set with powder it eventually started to come off my skin in powder form. This was not a good thing at all, in a crowded convention environment it meant the high possibility of rubbing off on other people. As the night wore on we even tried using more setting spray as well to keep it on, but it didn't work out.
When we finally started to remove the makeup it was a royal pain, regular soap and water seemed to smear it more than remove it, so we changed tactics. Using dawn dish soap to pull the oil from the cream makeup helped us a ton with removal. After learning this it took a brief shower and I was finally ready to hit the hot tubs.
So I bought this product originally for a few reasons. I was looking for a white concealer. I wanted something that would last and not be sheer. Something with full coverage. Because most white concealers I buy are very watery and dry. So I read allot of reviews and because it’s for fx makeup I figured, what the hell, it has to work. I was happy with the cost and how fast it shipped to me. Packaging was fine. No issues. I’m even surprised at how much product you get. But if ur looking for a “concealer” and ur use to store bough or everyday makeup concealer. This isn’t it. This is def more like oil paint. Face paint. It’s white and it delivers. But it is also sheer at the same time. If u have oily skin this product probably isn’t for you. I have super dry skin and even I had to set this with powder. And I noticed 6-7 hours later my makeup changed tremendously- I def needed to touch up. Since then I’ve ordered the elf camo concealer in white and makeup revolution concealer in white and I prefer these much better. But this is not for everyday makeup i truly believe it’s for special effects makeup.
I purchased this for my Halloween costume. It went on smoothly, but didn't last long enough to get the rest of my makeup on. It kept absorbing into my skin, so I was left with patches of gray and patches of regular skin all over my face. It was extremely hard to layer anything else over it, tint under my eyes and cheek highlights.
Perfect color and spread for my Marceline cosplay and would work for any Homestuck cosplay needed. Fair warning though couldn't get it to set for the life of me, used a blend of the mehron setting powder, setting spray and even hair spray when I got desperate: nothing worked. Still was perfect for the cosplay, just be careful on who or what you touch.
I really wanted to like this paint. I've used mehron paints before (the ones that come in the little pan) and have had trouble achieving a smooth look. I thought this would apply more evenly, but I was wrong. First, this was a more oil based paint than the others I've used. (which were water based) it doesn't dry like the water based paints do, so it rubs off at the slightest touch, even when i applied a setting powder. It didn't apply any smoother than the water based paints, and felt heavy and greasy on my skin. Maybe I'm not using the right technique when I'm applying my paint, but so far I haven't been able to get this to look smooth, no matter how many layers I apply. On the upside, it is very pigmented. (I ordered it in white)
I imagine if you were to put a lot of effort into smoothing this, it could be great for photos, but I wouldn't recommend wearing it for even a few hours, unless you don't mind having streaky makeup and paint stains all over your clothes. Overall, I wasn't very happy with this, but I've heard some people have had success with it, so maybe it's just me.
I just received a few Mehron products. All of them came with lids/ caps on top, but the blending stick didn’t. I’m not sure if this is how they’re distributed, but I found it a bit alarming that this product was shipped without any packaging to protect it.
I’ll happily use the other two products, but I’m not so comfortable using the blending stick
I wanted to love this product because the color and thickness were perfect. Unfortunately, upon opening it, 1/2 the stick was broken into the lid. I could scoop it out, but the point was I could use it as a stick. I sent it back.
