I bought this for a charity small office and then liked it so much that I bought another one for myself, to replace an old Dahle 20082.
Now I have not had it long so I cannot comment on its long term reliability but it seems solid and robust enough. Certainly the head is heavy enough!
It may be than many home/office machines have the features that I particularly liked in this machine and that I am impressed just because I moved up from a cheap personal shredder nevertheless these are the things I have noticed and which I like about it:
* It is on castors so I can keep it tucked away beside my desk and then easily wheel it out when needed. * The bin is large and easily emptied by pulling out the drawer so no more lifting a heavy machine head off to empty the bin * When the bin is full a sensor operates a light to tell you and stops operating the machine so no more paper jamming up the cutting head as on my old machine * If you try to feed too much in a sensor operates a light to tell you and stops the machine from feeding * It is quiet (relatively) for a shredder * I have not been able to test this but it says that it has a sensor which shuts the machine down if the motor starts to overheat and will not let you operate it until it cools down to a safe operating temperature. It is rated at 10 continuous mins on and the 20 mins off, which is quite good I believe for this class of machine. Hopefully then I will not be burning out the motor on this one as I have done on a previous shredder.
Just bought this shredder and initial impressions are impressive. I have had many a shredder for one, two maybe three years if lucky. Some have been returned under warranty, some just scrapped. This will be used in SOHO environment - shredding everyday. There are many features on this shredder: - 100% Jam proof - red LED indicate if there are too many sheets in the bundle to be shredded. Aim for two yellow LEDs for most efficient shredding. The motor adapts to load of shredding required; less power for a few sheets, more for a greater number. - Full bin indicator - Bin not replaced properly indicator - Usual overload and overheat indicators - Power effeciency - in that the shredder powers down after inactivity. Just touch the standby button to restart shredding. Time will only tell if this will last longer than three years. If not, then at least there is a two year machine warranty and five year cutter warranty.
Perfect Shredder for home use. It has power indicator to show if you are overloading sheet input. has different speeds it automatically uses. Benefits it copes easily with staples & credit cards. Its easy to empty, but you may need to look in & occasionally push the shredded paper down as it appears to build up like a pyramid shape. It came with bags to place inside the waste bin..... but are a bit of a faff for home use, also came with blade oil which is great....recommend to use it as it does keep the blades sharp & cheaper then the paper that does a similar job. Recommend a good quality rapeseed oil for future use at keeping the blades sharp but use the bottle supplied or very sparingly if using free hand...……….Its the cost effective way I've found.
This is a great addition to the home office - it swallows A4 sheets, credit cards and DVDs effortlessly. A good price was quoted - my only caution being to check the dimensions ( approx 54 cm high, 40 cm wide and 30 cm deep) relative to intended operating site - it is relatively large as machines for the home market go but as long as a suitable space can be found, I would not look further!
Very pleased with this shredder. It seems quite tough and able to do the job well. From a personal point of view, on our last shredder - we were able to put even very small pieces of paper into the feeder for the cutter to start. But, probably for health and safety reasons, on this model, you have to insert a big enough piece of paper to enable the feeder to grip the paper for it to pass through, otherwise the motor keeps going until you 'do' something, like press reverse, or pass another bigger piece of paper into the slot to enable the unit to grip sufficiently to continue shredding. But don't let that put you off, it's a very good unit.
I seem to have got this at a bargain price compared to the price advertised now! I also think I misunderstood the description of the shred size. I expected very small confetti. bit disappointing in reality. Still ticked all the relevant security boxes. it's a little big for home use, but I prefer that to messing around with small waste trays! I'm also not convinced on the amount of sheets it can shred. I wouldn't pay full price, but I'm happy with it in regards what I paid.
I didn’t buy this shredder initially - thought it was too expensive and bought a cheaper one. Big mistake. The cheaper one kept overheating, rejected anything more than 5 sheets thick and died after just three months. Luckily it was in guarantee so amazon gave me a refund. Then I bought this. It is great. Works super fast and doesn’t seem to have a problem with anything I feed it. No more spending hours trying to feed paper into a shredder!
A little bit expensive but if you want quality it costs the shredder is very quiet you get two years limited warranty on this item and 5 years cover on the actual shredder mechanism as long as you have registered the item
