I have tried three different pairs of Nautilus Safety Toe shoes. The 1392, 1340 and 1317. The first pair I ordered in my usual size of 11. I usually get a wide size and these were offered as extra wide so I chose that width. When I put them on my first thought was that these were just as comfortable as my New Balance Sneakers. But when I stood up my big toe was hitting the end of the shoe. The width was just right. I sent them back. I wanted to get another pair of 1392 in 11.5 but it wasn't offered in a wide width. So I ordered a pair of 1340 in a 11.5 wide (not extra wide). I tried them on and the length was OK but the width was not. So I ordered a pair of 1317 in a 11.5 extra wide. When they came in my toes were still rubbing. I started to order a pair of 12 extra wide but then changed my mind. After three attempts I figured Nautilus just wasn't going to work for me. I wanted these because they are advertised as having an "extra wide" toe cap. Still not enough room for my toes. I think they would be very comfortable if you can find a pair that fits.
I am completely disappointed with this product. The seller was fine and shipped promptly. The product, however, was way less than I hoped for.
I ordered a full size larger than I usually wear and the shoe itself is very tight. There is no room in the toe area even with a wide. Even more upsetting was that after a few WEEKS, the Achilles area has already rubbed open and torn. I work a split schedule, so that means the shoes didn't even make it 15 days. For the money, these shoes should have lasted at least a year. Never buying these again.
1: Too narrow near the toes (even though I ordered wide) but kind of okay everywhere else. 2: They break in well after a couple wears but I'm definitely adding an insole. If they last more than six weeks I'll add another star, if they last three months I'll add two
The first pair of these I bought was about a year ago, they were soft toe even though it said composite toe and they were great for about 10 months working 12 hour days on concrete with the Airr Orthotic Performance Insoles that I purchased seperately. When I bought these the second time they were composite toe and I can only wear them for a couple hours before my toes hurt. They are stiff and uncomfortable near the front of my feet. Had to buy a new pair of work shoes because these didn't cut it.
