Was hoping these would soak up the water in my garage and prevent the water from moving around.... They did not. I'm very dissatisfied with these. They didn't grow to 3.5" after sitting in water for several hours and they didn't stop the water either. Followed the instructions but still.
For shallow water issues only! I was very disappointed in this product. I had rising flood water outside my patio door and was hoping to stack these to keep the water at bay. The first one worked great, then i tried to lay a second one on top. It didn’t balance well, but I needed to block slowly rising water. I added a third which fell off and floated away, as did the first two when the water got higher. I realize the water ended up too high for the product, but i was disappointed they did not stay in place while stacked even before the water was higher, closer to 4-5 inches. I also tried them inside to build a dike around my furnace as water leaked in. They do not seal together well end to end, especially if not in a perfect straight line. Perhaps I just expected too much from this product. For small amounts of shallow water less than 3 inches deep they would be fine. Get the exact length or longer and don’t expect anything but a straight line. Even stacked in a pyramid they floated away.
I purchased this product, or something very similar, in the past and was pleased that the product absorbed water and effectively blocked the path of water from entering my garage. Unfortunately, the 2 5 foot floor barriers I just received did not work. The seams must have had a hole or else were not tight enough to keep the contents inside. When it rained it looked like ice had formed over both barriers. When I touched the "ice" it felt like gelatin. In addition, the barriers did not absorb a lot of water, like the old barriers did. I did not return the item since they had absorbed enough water to make it impossible to put back in the package and mail back.
I put this product in the gutter in front of my house to prevent water build up from lawn watering devices. On the first watering day, it filled up and burst. All of my neighbors came and swept it up and threw it out. This seems like a trivial task for this product as there is not of water involved here. I called the company and got no answer.
I placed this product in front of my garage door making sure to butt against the frame and door. It filled with water and once full, rain water poured right through it. In addition, gel was oozing out of it everywhere. It was a big slimy mess. Now to get a refund they want me to put this glob back in the small envelope package and mail it back?? No way to contact them about this problem. Don't waste your time or money.
Bought them to put out side of one of my rooms to stop the water from the rain coming in. Did not work, on the contrary made the water go into the room much much faster creating a big puddle in the inside. Also one of the barriers started producing the white little pebbles it has inside once the water touched it.
Bought these for my basement after a hard summer of rain caused flooding. When rain was forecasted again, we put them out. When we got home the basement had flooded and the barriers diverted the water. However, they exploded and the gelatinous goo from inside spread everywhere. From one use and a little bit of water. Now we have to load them in trash bags to get them out and clean the mess up from the basement. So irritated with the quality of this product. Definitely would not recommend.
They broke during a heavy rain. The gelatin like substance inside then clogged our exterior basement stairwell drain, and caused the flooding in our home it was supposed to prevent.
$200 to rod the drain. Probably $500+ in drywall and paint work.
On top of that, Amazon wouldn’t refund me because I refused to ship to wet, leaking, heavy, defective flood bags back. That’s wasteful, and not fair to our UPS driver to haul a wet heavy pack for no good reason.
