These flood barriers are excellent. Given that we have a "living spring" in our c1879 basement which really bubbles during heavy rains we needed something to protect our furnace and hot water heaters. I couldn't ask for a better product!
It absorbs the rain very well but it take a while (as in few weeks) to dry out and deflate. It's not something you can simply just use and pack away. I just leave it where i need it and it deflates a bit then inflates with rain. The gels are very small and will permeate out of the casing during rain but it's normal. After a bit of moisture, the barrier will be very slimy to the touch. It's not too bad for redirecting water flow otherwise.
The perfect solution to those heavy rains. Now that I know about reusing them I would never go without. I dried them out over a few weeks on the lawn and have packed the up for next year. Light weight and easy to store yet they d a job that is second to none. Sand bags are such a pain, heavy and mess when you are done with them. These are compact, easy to store and fast and simple to use. I even took one and cut it into smaller units, sewed up the side and have them for smaller places. Came home to a flooded bathroom and used to soak up some of the water oin the corners till everything was fixed. Plan on telling all my neighbors and friends my simple solution
Was hoping these would soak up the water in my garage and prevent the water from moving around.... They did not. I'm very dissatisfied with these. They didn't grow to 3.5" after sitting in water for several hours and they didn't stop the water either. Followed the instructions but still.
I have only used the 17ft ones so far but they work well. They are being used to redirect water into our dam when it rains. It has only rained a couple of times since we put them there. They dried out in between, but as soon as more water hit them they swelled up again.
