My keets love this stuff, though they ignore the flax seeds, (which is odd because they used to eat them as far as I know.) They really enjoy it soaked as well. I would like it even more if it had more seed variety, but I mix it with another blend of seed and my birds are very happy. They don't even care as much about spray millet anymore.
This seed mix smells very clean and fresh and my birds go crazy when they see the bag. It has lots of oat groats in it, which my birds happen to really enjoy but other birds may not like. Sometimes my birds will go at this seed and eat everything down to dust and flax seeds.
If you find your birds like it, be sure to get the 3 pound bag the second time you order. It's cheaper per pound and seems to ship faster too.
My birds really like this and soaking them gives them more nutrients with each feeding making it a good choice for a seed mix to feed your bird. It’s very expensive though and you can find it much cheaper in bird stores or on the tops website. They will still need fresh veggies and grains to complete their diet but this is a good choice to add to it as long as it’s not all they’re eating. Like with any food moderation is key.
After reading all the good reviews I figured my seed loving Parrotlet would probably love it, but not exactly.... I tried atleast 5 times to get him to eat it but I guess he just wasn’t feelin it because he literally wouldn’t touch it! And this is coming from the P’let who will literally eat anything he comes in contact with! We usually have to take food away from him so he won’t get sick from gorging himself! ESP seeds! But after about a week of trying I had to return it which was no problem & I got my money back in Amazon credit.
Fancy bag for 3 lbs of oats and groats parakeet seed. Soaked rinsed ,soaked, rinsed, soaked rinsed and then tried to see if it would soften or sprout.... nada nothing. Tried feeding it straight out of the bag. Same results. We have a blue headed conure. He was an adoption so we’re trying to get him onto a better diet. You can buy a bag of common parakeet seed and try the same thing. Foil bag is hard to ziplock. I don’t own any parakeets, canaries or finches anymore. So basically I wasted my money.
My GCC - green cheek conure - loves this pellet. He’s been eating it over three years. He gets other stuff - veggies & fruit & a little seed, but he always goes for his Tops pellets. My only small issue with the packaging is that the expiration date is on the top tab that you tear off. I just keep a sharpie close by and write the expiration date on the package - issue solved. Another option is to just put the tab inside the foil package w/the pellets.
Highly recommend. He’s tried others and doesn’t like them as much. Good product.
I was given two parakeets and they were on a store bought seed. I changed their diet and wanted an organic seed mix to work into their fresh food. They love this seed mix and there has been no adjustment for them. I am thrilled!
I’ve wanted to give my birds the opportunity to try Top’s for a while, but have put it off because it’s more expensive than what I’ve been feeding them. I finally bought this package and use it sparingly with the fresh food that I feed. All of the birds (cockatiels & parakeets) really like it. It’s fresh, packaged well, and smells amazing.
I previously purchased this exact item before and it was close to 100% sprouting over 6 months of use. Now almost none have sprouted in my last two batches. These seeds have been damaged in some way and are no longer viable. I'm very disappointed.
