Not sure where the coffee was sitting but 4.5 month is too old and the brewing experience is accordingly. Flat crema and little body. Disappointing.

Don't buy this if you're making espresso, it's incredibly weak and almost flavorless. Dialing in grind size, dose, etc. did not help. It was consistently unappealing.

I did some research and found this coffee is probably ~8+ weeks old by the time it gets to you. If you're a coffee snob (or trying to become one), that is just too long. Nevertheless, trying to cut our household budget I bought this to try after seeing it in many coffee shops and having some Lavazza coffee in Italy.

I brewed in the AeroPress as follows: 96C water, 17g of coffee, 45s bloom, press at 2:00, top up with a very small amount of water, add a generous amount of milk. It is palatable enough that I will finish the bag using this method, but would not seek it out.

I brewed in a Chemex following the Stumptown guide to brewing, and found the coffee to be bad. This is definitely not suited for a drip, more for an AeroPress or stovetop espresso maker (Bialetti).

I will not be re-purchasing this.

Not my favorite from Lavazza that's for sure.

On first glance these are the lightest beans I've used for espresso purposes, and almost entirely lack an oily sheen on the exterior of the bean. The beans themselves are varied colors, from a very light brown to a mildy dark brown.

I've tried Lavazza Super Crema, Gran Crema, and Tierra Intenso. It should come as no surprise that crema is my main complaint here. The crema produced in this type is about 1/2 of what I get from the Gran Crema. But it's not actually designed for it so I can't let that affect my review too much.

I brewed side by side a shot of this vs. a shot of Gran Crema for giggles. I brew 2oz shots into ~2oz of heated milk, with 1/2 a table spoon of brown sugar for taste (just so you know how this went down). This brand, the Rossa is definitely stronger flavored than the Gran Crema, and has more of a pronounced coffee flavor. However it's missing the fruity flavor in the background of the Gran Crema. The Gran Crema definitely doesn't have as strong a flavor, but is in my opinion more complex.

In conclusion... I may end up adding this to my rotation, but I definitely prefer some of the other brands LaVazza has to offer. In terms of potency I suspect these are the strongest beans I've ever had. I can feel my heart rate increase after one cup, which is something I thought I was immune to at this point.

Disappointing. Bitter and acidic, not a great espresso bean

Summary
This is more bitter and acidic than we like, and the roast is less dark or full bodied than we would have expected

Our setup is a Breville barista espresso machine. The beans are ground fresh with a burr grinder for each use.

We don't generally use a lot of high quality beans and were expecting these to be far and above the store purchased beans we usually get. They were actually worse than expected. The coffee did not have the rich, full bodied flavor that we expected, and the coffee was quite bitter. We will still finish the bag, but this came as a surprise to us given the type of cheaper beans we usually purchase. Also, the longer the coffee stays in your cup, the more bitter the taste becomes. The crema is decent, but I think that's more from our machine than these beans since we always get pretty good crema.

The price of this keeps going up every week. I have a subscription to this coffee and every time I get it it's more expensive. This is getting ridiculous that the prices changes so frequently on your subscribed items and there's no notification. It's almost better to buy at the grocery store when it's on sale.
