I waited several weeks before writing this review so I could try to work out what was happening. The reality of what was happening is they are terrible. My elderly father is soaked every single day. I bought them in an attempt to buy in bulk to reduce the costs of this most fundamental care need: his dignity. They have a capacity of 3 litres! Yet every single morning they have leaked and he wakes up wet through. Not even I can pee 3 litres a night even if I tried so it’s not volume of liquid. I’ve been caring for my father since he came to live with us over a year ago and these pads are a total failure which is super strange because the physical shop supermarket ones haven’t had this problem. Sure, maybe wet sometimes, but every morning?! Rant aside, it’s a major factor to maintaining his dignity as his dementia progresses that he doesn’t have to feel upset by thinking he’s ‘messed’ again and costing money and aggravation. These aren’t issues for us as we don’t put a cost on his dignity but HE feels this. He is getting up hours before his carers arrive to change and then his carers change his pad again after he is washed. So just a quick and simple assessment: 1 extra pad and 1 extra bed absorbent pad a day, 1 washed Pyjamas every day x365 from a taxed salary and no dignity.
Purchased these for my mother, who is a dress size 12-14, assumed as her normal underwear is a medium size and other waterproof/incontinence pants have been worn in the same size that a medium would be appropriate to order this time. Thankfully, I ordered two different packs of pants as the Tena ones were absolutely huge in comparison. They were loose around the leg and the waist came up way above my mother's waistline. There was no point in my mother wearing them as they would not have worked properly so cannot comment on absorbency, comfort or stretch. Disappointed as I feel Tena are a leading brand in sanitary wear and their sizing should be consistent with others on the market.
Bought these for my maternity hospital bag, for breaking waters and post-birth bleeding. These are essentially pull-up nappies for adults. I’m a 12-14 and the fit of the M size was OK. Although handy and certainly useful, they were not however very comfortable - the nappy gusset was substantial and quite uncomfortable to sit down with. Fortunately I bought some maternity pads as well and ended up using those instead.
Nice looking, comfortable when standing/moving but Tena pads a bit obtrusive when you sit on fairly hard surface (like a typing chair). I presume this is because they are classified as very absorbent and thicker padding necessary.
Comapared to the supermarket purchases these are less absorent and have a yellow line on the pants where a nae tag should be. Think it might be reject stock. Also the stitching on the sides was furhter inward resulting in less fibre and complete leakage. Stick the supoermarket and you will save yourself a lot of cleaning. I mean this were total leakage from the sides. Ridiulous hw incorrect the stitching a compared to the supermarkt. Bad batch maybe but the supermarket ones never leaked, were always stichedcorrect and never had a plan yellow lne going throught the pants. Unhappy with the purchase.
Hard to find these in the shops here. I was using the super ones at night for my wife who has dementia but they leaked which meant a lot of washing. These are a good price for 4 as the super ones are almost £3 more and they dont leak which is great. Arrived next day.
These pants are such a terrific help for people with continence. They are very easy to use and a snug fit.. giving both the wearer and the carer confidence. They are very absorbent and, even though they aren’t cheap, they save on laundry and upset in the long term. How good they are for the environment is a searching question!
