Not made for Alberta climate. The coating began to crack when it got cold. There were too many to count. It eventually peeled right off in some areas. I didn’t have this issue with the last tie out I had. It didn’t last very long.....
This is the 2nd one I have purchased in 2 years... Great until the first winter when plastic cracks in the cold and metal line rusts... it will frey and break (near the collar 80% time). I was able to fix my first leash a few times with a clamp by the collar... it is cheap in price, probably really good in warmer climates, but not very many things can withstand -37 to -45 degree celcius weather, so worth it for me even if I only get a couple years out of it.
I've purchased a couple of these, one for the front yard and one for the backyard. We use these every time we put the dog out to go to the bathroom. They work great but occasionally the release will stick a bit which can be a bit uncomfortable on your thumb. Also, if you leave them out in cold weather... that release will freeze and you will need to use the warmth of your hand to get it to open.
I would recommend these. If I need another, I'll buy one of these again.
This cord is not strong or sturdy, the plastic coating is weak and brittle and cracks. This didn't even last 4 months! I do not recommend buying this product as you will not get a refund when it breaks down. I have bought previous dog leads that have lasted at least eight or nine months. You should definitely try something else if you are using this outside.
I got 2 of these cables on March 19 and put into them use immediately. At first they seemed like great tie outs for my retrievers, clasps and fasteners sturdy and well attached to cable. Then this week I noticed a split in the plastic coating on the cable and underneath rusting already. These are intended for outdoor use and I am surprised and disappointed that these were not weather proof for more than 8 weeks. Amazon, if you can reach the supplier I would welcome direct contact and a replacement to see if it was just one defective cable. Will review again to report progress.
My hooman bought this for me, a Proud Malamute king of my courtyard. I thank him for buying product who doesn’t survive cold winter of Quebec. Leading me to conquest the country of my neighbour, eating their birds and marking my territory.
My hooman isn’t happy about the product tough. I don’t understand him, I think its fine!
Ive bought these a few times. This last time i ordered 2. My dogs dont pull or run to the end of it ever, we use it in the early morning hours or really late at night for a quick bathroom break. So its used maybe 2-3 times a day. The first ones casing started peeling in less then 2 days, the casing was like a thin brittle tin foil feel. Nothing like id ever seen from these before and it was peeling off like a snake skin and i was worried the dogs would pick some up. So i switched it out for the second because lets all be honest. Dud items happen in every industry. But sadly the second one did the exact same thing within days. I do not recommend these any longer. Something about the coating has changed and they are just not worth it.
I bought this item in a pair for my two huskies. After using it for less than two months, the cable is now considered garbage. Its not even cold out and the cable is already useless. The plastic is ripped, there is rust, it is curled and it’s unusable! I have another rope that I kept (the rope on the right) and it’s way more durable than this one (on the left). So avoid because it’s a waster of money!
I don't recommend this product for cold climates. We had to replace it before winter was even over as the plastic coating all cracked which made it dangerous because of the exposed cable and we were afraid of cuts from it. There are better ones out there, we are now trying one that is made in Canada which you can find on amazon as well.
I read mixed reviews on this product and was a little worried about it breaking. I have a 70lb husky who can really pull. I purchased this to have him tied up while camping, and let me say it worked great! I have purchased many tie outs and this has to be my favorite one. Its very strong but also light weight. My dog was all over the place an it didn't get all tangled like some of the others. Great quality & price! Would recommend!
