Decent product, customer service is good unless it’s a big issue

You can buy a cheaper charger, but I have 2 Optima Redtops and 2 yellowtops. It makes sense to get one designed for them right? The only complaint I have is that you have to manually select the battery type. It should be automatic. I mean it take a few minutes to analyze the battery. So if you forget to select it won’t charge. Otherwise it’s a good charger.

When I installed the wall mount it has a nice place to attach the wires and what not. But the back of the charger broke and it no longer hooked on. Called customer service. Received a wall mount which was not what I was looking for. After the second call they said I broke it and not covered. I only mounted it twice before it broke off. Talk about cheap or poor design. Anyways now I’ll need to try and get it replace via amazon. Makes me wonder if I should just get another brand.

Optimas charger selection problems

So far have used this on my snowmobile battery and charger was great, lots of info an ddoes a full analysis prior to charge. Went to put on my tractor today and found out the membrane button to select Automotive/Marine battery does not work, other three selection ones do. Will keep for now as I do have a larger charger for auto batteries and this was bought for powersports ones.

KEEP YOUR RECEIPTS !!!! Here is my 2 year review. I bought 3 Digital 400's two years ago. They performed perfectly ... until last week ... one read "out of range" ... a week later the 2nd one read the same thing. Very weird ... 2 at the same time? I have a small car collection of 9 cars ... 6 have CTEK's maintainers and 3 have the Optima Digital 400's. After isolating the "battery, charging system & charger" issues ... the 2 Optima Digital 400 charger's are defective. Here is why I am writing this review now ... my experience is that their Customer Service is nothing but a defensive system to make sure you don't get anything from " them". I called Optima's Customer Service # and after working my way through their "we will do anything to not have to talk to a customer" phone system three times. (3 disconnects) I finally spoke to a rep ... this took 40 minutes total ... being on hold and the disconnects. The rep was very nice and told me that if I didnt buy directly from Optima that I better have special paperwork "sent" from Amazon ( can you imagine asking Amazon to send Optima some paperwork for me .. LOL ! " ) way before I could even discuss any warranty issues. BTW she had no idea that the units could display "out of range" ... so she was going to transfer me to someone who "might" know. I was disconnected again. So ... I have heard their Customer Service has turned really bad ... but if you really are persistent and you want to try to have a warranty issue solved ... SAVE YOUR RECEIPTS.

Ok, this works better than any of my past chargers. 3 stars because it needs a bit of improvements. When I connected this to one battery I was hoping to bring back to life; the battery got extremely hot and deformed. The case is not made well. After praising this charger to a friend, he wanted to test it before purchasing. After wrapping the cables around the charger and using the strap to secure the cables; when I went to put it in my backpack the case fell apart. All 5 places that the screws went through broke. I don't recall ever dropping this charger, and it has been moved several times between the garage and house. I still have this charger, I put 2 longer screws in to hold the case together. The places the screws go in are WAY to thin to even try fixing. My friend is trying it out to see if he wants one. Yes, he knows what happened to mine. Except for the one battery (not an optima battery) this has done great at charging both optima's and regular lead acid batteries.

I really wanted to love this thing but only after using it three times the storage hanger wings on the chargers back side that enables it to hook onto the storage caddie both broke off. Now unable to use the wall hanger.. I carries a three year warranty so maybe I will have It exchanged for the same. It still works as a battery charger/maintainer/conditioner so it gets three stars, had it not broken during normal use maybe five stars..

Only lasted four hours

After charging a Optima red top battery for four hours, this charger made a pop/snap like noise and a screw fell out under the red foot stand at top back of charger. The screw will not thread back in, something inside most have broken?
I have used this type of charger before with no issues, This one must be defective. Returned for exchange same item.

It's easy to use, however on the second time the display is really hard to read and didn't brought back to life the AGM battery it was originally purchased to help with. It seems to be okay unit, but definitely not worth the money. Any other cheaper battery tender will do the same job. That display is almost impossible to read and it's important to have it properly working since it's giving you the information you want.

I give it a 3 star for one reason LCD stopped working
I took a 5 year old battery at 10.1 Volts and left it to charge and repair because I was doubtful 12 hour charge and the battery started my Wrangler this a battery that know other charger would even get anything out of . after that I tried another Battery before using it on My Optima that was left for a month that went too 11 volts it charged both Batteries without a problem . I just hate the LCD mine went out after two days Amazon is sending out new one over Night
