I have always wanted a pegboard but never owned one until recently, when I purchased a framed one that was on sale at Michael's. As I was searching online for pegs, I was overwhelmed with all the options. I don't know what possessed me to buy such a large pack, because the most I'll ever need on this pegboard is 10 to 15 pegs. But the price for these pegs was so reasonable that I couldn't pass it up, and I was very intrigued by the "flex lock" mechanism, ensuring that the pegs would stay in place.
However, when I received them, I finally came to understand what some of the other commenters meant about having to bend the pegs. Indeed, you do absolutely have to bend the pegs back slightly in order to get them to fit. Once they're in place, they seem very secure, but as I was installing just ten pegs onto my pegboard, I broke FIVE of them in the process! I guess that 100-pack is going to come in handy, but not for a good reason - I'm going to need them as replacements as I add new pegs or move them around on the pegboard!
All in all, I do like them, but I'm torn as to whether I'd buy them again or recommend them to others over alternative options. It seems like a ridiculous oversight on the part of the manufacturer to have this flaw, because an ever-so-slight change in the angle of the peg would solve this problem. I hope the seller is listening and will ask the manufacturer to make this adjustment for future purchases. It's very frustrating to have to play a game of "peg roulette" in order to get the pegs installed. I had planned on just selling most of my unused pegs, keeping just a few for spares. But I now fear that I may need to keep the whole bag, just in case the others break. Could that be why they come in a bag of 100? Hmm.
After a couple of hours searching and reading numerous comments on Pegboard pegs, I decided on these. My 1/4" pegboard is hung up on my garage wall so I can hang garden tools and miscellaneous tools. These pegs arrived in 1 day! This morning I opened the package and took the pegs out to see how they fit. Fitment: Unlike the other reviews, I had absolutely no issues putting these on the pegboard or removing them. I inserted the top then push in the bottom, perfect fit.
I hung a couple hammers right away and then removed the hammers to see if the pegs would stay in. Sure enough, no issues with them falling out of the pegs. They stayed in the pegs and are very sturdy. If I need more I will place another order.
I was hesitant to buy these after reading the reviews about them being too big for the peg holes. Mine were a good fit but could have been a little bit tighter. Since some reviewers said they didn't receive a full order, I decided to count mine and sure enough, two were missing. That leaves me wondering if it was a mistake or an "on purpose" I contacted the company to send the missing two, If I receive them, I will update my review
OK so i wrote a negative review before thinking these were not fitting on my 1/4" pegboards, but I after looking on youtube about the issue, i discovered that you have to sort of push the j-hooks into the holes in a sort of upward direction for them to actually fit. It's a little tricky but all and all, the j-hooks do work. Once they're in, they're pretty much stuck on the pegboards until you pull them out. They do not fall off easily like my old hooks.
These hooks are amazing!!!! I use peg board for my jewelry business and traditional pets are always falling off. Especially since I travel a lot with my boards. These locking J hooks fit perfectly and don't fall out. I can move them around easily to change the look of my display and they do not damage the holes in the peg board.
