This stuff is amazing. They warn you and it is true, it cures in literally a minute, so be prepared, and be fast. I had to use pliers to get the last inch off the roll and apply it cos it cured so quickly. Good tip: the warmer the water the quicker it cures! I used it on an exhaust and while it says it can be used for that, it doesn't last long, maybe a few days at best, but in those few days it is excellent and does not leak. I highly doubt it is strong enough to be used to join a spade handle as they say, but it is fairly strong and makes a good seal for a temporary repair.
Somehow I'd managed to shear my exhaust pipe all the way across near the backbox, I think probably when I was rear-ended over 9 months ago. Being a diesel the lack of backbox being connected wasn't detectable!
Due to the shear being so close to the backbox, it was actually on the part which goes inside the slightly swaged larger pipe on the backbox, I had trouble tracking down an exact fit for a sleeve which would go outside the existing centre section of pipe (which has a DPF and CAT in it, so not cheap to replace) yet inside the backbox (which was in perfect condition after spending 2 hours removing the piece of sheared off pipe).
A slightly loose fitting sleeve was fitted and wrapped with this FibreFix Heat Wrap then clamped with normal exhaust clamps. The result after a brief heating up cycle which is required to cure the wrap, was a solid and leak free join.
I was a bit worried because of some of the reviews but it did the job perfectly. Its very strong. Ive used it for a while now and ive spent several hours mowing with the fix, engine got very hot but it held up well
Followed the instructions and no problems at all. Had a big hole at a connecting point of the exaust. Had to get under the car to apply it, but it worked very well as a temp fix. Will update as the weeks go on.
