I love this thing - and use it every night with 25 or so drops of various essential oils. I even bought one for my mom, who is so far afraid to use it. I first saw this at a Whole Foods store and knew I had to have it. I like that it looks sort of natural, even though it is plastic. The changing colored light feature of this diffuser might appeal to some people, but I haven't used it. I'm more about the essential oils and the seemingly healthful mist this unit features. I'm one of those people who would burn scented candles all night but for the fear of a cat knocking them over and burning the house to the ground. This though, seems safe to use at night, and the fine mist is relaxing. It runs for about seven hours and simply shuts off when the water is gone. That said, my husband thinks there is a sputtering or gurgling noise to this device. I do hear that now and then, but it doesn't bother me. I wash the components with soap and water every few days as the oils can build up, and also to ward off mold, which I think could be a potential complication of this diffuser. One thing to make sure of: the components need to be aligned as shown. One night I set this up in the dark with the top at a bit of an angle, and I awoke to a very wet nightstand, table lamp and phone! I think I'd like to have several of these in different rooms - there are so many different essential oils to chose from! For now though, I'll stick with this one.
I am not sure why there are so many complaints about this diffuser. I did realize there wasn't any markings to show the max fill, so the first time I did overfill it, but I could've been smart & used a measuring cup to be sure the first time.
You have to follow the directions....oil first, then use undistilled water (I used filtered so I didn't have any chlorine or chemicals spewing out of the thing-don't want to breathe that with the essential oils!), don't fill it all the way up! Fill it up until there is 2-2.5 inches of space left....or less if you want it to run a shorter time than 8 hours. When you are done, WIPE IT OUT CLEAN & rinse out the tank with a bit of vinegar & warm water! If you don't, it will stop diffusing eventually or you will get weird mixes of essential oils.
it shuts off automatically when its empty or 8 hours passes, which ever is first....it also will automatically shut off if it is knocked over! My clumsy self can attest to this. My Young Living diffuser will not shut off if you knock it over & ruin it....which is another reason I am happy I bought this diffuser.
I don't have to worry about me or cats or my kids knocking it over & causing me to have to replace it!
My hubby like the ability to choose no light or changing lights but he wishes he could choose one color or have it go at an even slower speed through the colors... I think he is being picky for the price we paid.
Overall, this is a great diffuser for the price & I would get this for someone else or recommend for a friend OVER THE YOUNG LIVING ONE!!!
This is great and works very well! I'm not sure how others get there's to run 8 hours but mine does 3-4. The steam is cool to the touch and safe. Some complained that you have to remove the faux wood cover then the top. This is to see the LED lights better if you'd like. I just put a little glue and glued it on so I Dont have to remove both each time. Super simple. Second, some people say it works once then stops. This could be die to overfilling the little chamber. I thought mine was broke but I slightly overfilled it with water and it took a bit but it came on once the water evaporated on its own. So I'd just fill under a smidge to avoid that. It is super safe as it turns itself off after either 8 hours or when the water is gone. Third, some people complain they aren't getting a string enough smell. This is most absolutely due to the oil being used, not the diffuser, if you can see the steam it is diffusing properly. You need good quality essential oils. Please make sure you know the difference between an essential oil and other oil types. Make sure you are buying from a quality place that is not diluting the oils and selling them as "essential" oils. Since you only need 5 drops minimum even a 5 ml bottle can last awhile.
Overall, great product. Most complaints can be easily remedied. Safe, and makes my house smell amazing!!!
I love it. read tons of reviews about there diffuser stopping and was a bit worried. but when I got mine I didn't keep it level and water filled the base of the diffuser and wouldn't come one. the instructions say keep the airway clear ( I believe it used another word, but I don't know where my instructions are anymore). So, I emptied the base and made sure to keep it level the next time I put the top of it on and it came right on. I've had the product now for a month and it still works great. when plugged in the red power light is light up. you press it once to get the diffuser to diffuse and then again to get the changing colors to illuminate then again to turn both off. I'm still keeping my eye out for it to just randomly stop as some people have written about and I also read reviews about how hard it is to fill. but it's really easy so not sure what they were doing. you take the top fill it with water and add your oil drops to the water. then put the cap back on and turn over and place it on the base. the water will not leak out of the top till placed on the base because of the way it is designed. but still make sure that the base of the diffuser is not filled past a certain point with the water or it will not come on. but it should not do that if you set it up right.
I saw this in the grocery store for 59.00 and was going to buy the only one on the shelf because it puts out an amazing stream of mist, and I was ill with a head cold....but another customer snatched the thing right off the shelf in front of me as I was considering it. The clerk would not sell the demo unit, so I promptly went on Amazon, right there in the store, and saved 20 dollars! My unit arrived in a matter of days, and I am currently sitting here at my desk with this lovely little darling right next to me. It has an option of solid green glow, or a rotation through gently changing colors. The shape of it, and the styling overall is highly appealing and organic. Its truly gorgeous. And, though quiet, there is a lovely soothing sound--water moving a little or something. Its truly lovely. Now, me, being a believer of "If a little is good, more must be better", I put a great deal of my lavender, patchouli, rosemary and a touch of sandalwood into the tank. I am certain that I put a lot more oil than most people use, and I have a feeling that if the oil floating on top were to come into contact with whatever magical mechanism vaporizes the water, there may be an issue of the unit not lasting too long due to something getting "gummed up". I am not worried though....I am loving this wonderful diffuser and want one in my bedroom, too! This one will migrate tonight when I go to bed!
I'll keep it simple. Looks like wood (but it's plastic so it's light weight). The top half can be lifted off so that the white part with the changing colors show. It lasts AT LEAST 8 hours. The water receptacle holds a lot of water so it last a long time, however, it requires way more than 5 drops to achieve a room full of aroma. If you use less water then 5 drops is enough but it won't run as long. It's pretty quiet, but it does make a faint water dripping sound, which is normal for all diffusers. I like that it blends with my coffee table, so I can leave it out even when I'm not using it. It sort of looks like a large Airwick air freshener. It's pretty big, about the size of a small vase or a toy football. It's certainly too big to travel with. It has changing lights (changing, one color, or off - your choice). It turns on right away and has a strong stream. No variable speeds though. It's pretty easy to use, however, because of the shape, you can't set it down to fill it up or add drops. So what I do is place it upside down in a glass when I want to add the drops. All-in-all I think it's a great product and it is priced very well.
