I have one dislike. I play Xbox series X, and I can’t use the long lead with the control panel as Xbox don’t have a USB output for sound. I do suppose the headset could have a smaller sound control panel, very basic just a volume wheel, mute, and party:game sound splitter. But that is more Xbox’s fault, slight oversight on Hyper’s part.
The sound is incredible. I recommend purchasing DTS:X to go with the headset as the sound is crisp and pinpoint accuracy, I play a lot of R6 Siege and I can tell exactly where someone is crouch walking it truly is amazing. There’s so much layering to the sound which creates such an authentic feel. Honestly couldn’t recommend these more, odd you’re unperturbed by the small control panel issue. The mic only pics up your voice, when my door opens or even if my tv sound is on, it’s very rare that the mic pics it up. Everyone comments on how crisp and clear my voice is. Had no issues with other people complaining about buzzing with my mic which happens with other wired controllers. £70 is such a steal, especially compared with other high end mics like steel series which do have great quality and features, but are so comparable with this mic, there is hardly any difference (other than the extra £200).
Final statement. Get this mic. It’s comfortable, amazing surround sound, pinpoint accuracy, clear voice with no white noise or echo.
The build quality of the headset itself is good - Is metal/feels sturdy, however after having this for around a year now there are a few things I need to mention that are issues for me:
1. The cables for the headset are sturdy, but they seem to get themselves twisted and bent really easily. I'm worried there is going to be damage to the wires as I'm constantly having to unplug the headset to untangle really tight twists just from general use. Some parts of my cable are permanently bent now. 2. The jack that plugs into the volume control bit doesn't sit in very sturdily/seems to pull out really easily. It's quite a common issue (Few times a week) I'll realise nobody can hear me anymore and it's because the jack has slipped out a few MM so the microphone connection is no longer there. 3. The mic is too quiet - This is a common issue I have found online with no easy fix and seems to just be a headset or drive issue or something. I have had a lot of people say they need to boost me up to 200% in Discord and I'm still quiet sometimes - I have tried with/without the glove on the mic, moving mic closer etc, checked all my Windows settings are on 100% volume, unplugging/replugging everything, experimented with Discord settings etc. The only way people were able to help with this was to download 3rd party software to apply boost to the mic.
The headset overall is good - I play mostly FPS games and have no issue hearing/the quality is very clear.
Amazing headphone quality but the mic needs improvement. The sound through these is incredible, and the 7.1 surround sound is great. The only issue is the microphone seems to have some kind of compression which makes the quality slightly less. Still a good microphone, it picks up speaking well but the position has to be right or else you are too close and blowing on it when enunciating and it effectively mutes background noise.
Second time I have bought these - bought as a gift for my father who is a massive music fan - the first I puchsed 12 months ago for myself. The haedset is comfortable and light weight, I have quite big ears (thanks dad!) and found these to be extremely comfortable to use when gaming for extended periods of time. Volume control works a treat, however I have found that if the jack that plugs into the controller is as much as half a millimeter out of the socket you will lose all mic output. Overall excellent value for money and a fine performer. One last thing. These were bought to replace the razer headset that I purchsed and had to return due to failing (lasted 3 months). These are far lighter and more comfortable and after at least a years worth of not being treated quite as the should are still going strong. You will not be diisapointed!!!!
My £15 Sony headphones sounded better than this. The treble is far too high and the bass is very lacking. The end result is tinny sound coming from £60 headphones! The microphone isn't any better - I expected better from a headset costing this much as my, once again, £10 Logitech microphone sounds better than this. The microphone is also really quiet for some odd reason...
In any case, I returned this and pray you find something else because these are not as good as these reviews proclaim these to be.
I used to buy logitech headphones for £80, which were an extremely cheap build quality, and would break frequently. Finally decided to look for a different brand and I could not be more pleased with these headphones. the sound quality is great, they're very comfortable, the bag for the headphones / extra ear pads is a very nice touch, and you can turn the surround sound on and off at the click of a button, which has a lot more utility than you'd think. Great product.
