The hold on this isn't quite strong enough. I would recommend Malin + Goetz as a primary choice for hair cream if you have thick/wavy hair; theirs has a solid hold and a fantastic smell. This hair cream works for those who have a tiny bit thinner hair.
As someone who hasn't gotten his hair cut since February, I've had to adapt my now medium-longer hair styling and have for months been trying different products to try to find something that gets rid of the frizziness, makes it look healthy but not shiny, gives it memory but doesn't have too much hold and most importantly, isn't terrible for the hair. This was one of those products and I am happy to say it will be the last one, it does all of the above and don't cost a ridiculous amount of money. The product I used before my hair grew 3 inches longer than usual was a Kevin Murphy one so I am used to paying a decent amount for hair product but this at $20 is still a very high quality product.
All I do is spray some salt spray in before drying it then use this and a really light spray then comb it through and apply a little more and that's it, its great for the day. Sure it moves around but its better to have hair that moves around that you can put back in place with a couple of hands-through-the-hair motions than something that after it moves you look ridiculous and can't restyle it.
Top notch produce, highly recommend you try it if you're in the same boat as I am.
I thought I'd try a new hair product, since pandemic hair has firmly taken hold, and this appeared to fit the bill. I'm used to using a product like Layrite's pomade on shorter hair, and that works really well. I have their matte cream as well, but it leaves longer hair a little too crusty. Since I'm also a big fan of Baxter of California, I thought I'd try this. It's perfect! Exactly the right hold, but also feels like hair, not cardboard.
The big problem is that in order to ensure it does its thing, I'm using an amount that fits on the tip of a finger, and I'm going through the tube fast. One application like that a day and I'll be shocked if the tube lasts two weeks. I really like the product, but I'm not buying a new tube every two weeks.
The product says light hold but I got zero hold... using 3 pea sized dollops I wasn’t able to get any sort of holding power in my hair and it still flops around all over the place. Having to use more then that would eat up the bottle in a little over a week, which is far too much for the amount it costs.
I’ll use this more as a hair health product then a styling product. If you want something to hold your hair go with anything else but this.
