It’s a great cheap replacement for the Left joycon but bear in mind that it has NO RUMBLE feature and can ONLY BE USED IN HANDHELD mode, it is not a wireless controller. I bought it to replace my left joycon that got damaged and it works fine. I only give it 3 stars because the compared to the real joycon and pro controller are much better controllers. But it’s the best bang for your buck. Also id you have a case for your switch, it will likely not fit because there’s a bump where the release button is located, I had to cut a hole on my myo case to allow room for the bump.
the look and D-pad of this joycon replacement are amazing. but they don't balance the weight. it is fine for the 1st 10mins of playing but after that, the extra weight of the original right joycon will mount up and ruin the experience. I'm putting this in the storage box until they make the right joycon replacement.
It does the job, but mine had minor (but still unacceptable) manufacturing defects like not aligning properly with the switch, an erratic minus button, and worst of all it has an odd shape and some bumps that make it impossible to fit into standard switch protective cases. I had to drill a hole in my case just to fit it in. TBH I expected more from HORI.
Plug it in your Switch, play games. Can't use it if it's not connected as there's no wireless. It's also lacking any gyro sensors, so forget about solving shrines in Breath of the Wild. I mainly use it for Mario Kart on the go.
But otherwise, a little disappointing. Ever so slightly loose fitting - enough that it's a bit of a worry sometimes. The release switch o the back sticks out further than a normal joycon which makes it fit unevenly in cases. Looks great though.
I love this product for the price at which it ships at, the value is great, if you're willing to play without some of the Joy-con's key features, then this should be a fine temporary solution for a faulty left Joy-con. (It's missing HD rumble, a battery, and wireless communications, as well as gyro, and weighs quite a bit less than a standard left Joy-con.)
