I bought this "plastic adhesive" to repair the hinges on my daughters 17" HP Envy computer which suffered the common "plastic rot" and detached from the internal structure with disastrous results I vacillated between a number of different epoxy adhesives, before crossing my fingers and choosing this. I could not have made a better choice. Easy to handle , stays in place, comfortable setting time allowing careful assembly, "Sets like concrete and sticks like glue" to plastic and metals. Plenty of "build" Of course once the hinges are glued in place they cannot be dismantled. This is a one shot repair, and it is either this or scrapping the computer. Increased my kudos in my daughters eyes. No-one could be more surprised than me when I reassembled it Switched it on And It Worked! Brilliant stuff. I have used it for other things With great success.
Brought this for bonding and filling on car plastic trims and filling plastic. This it does do very well!! The adhesive tube is pathetic with so much wasted liquid be it hardener or adhesive. I followed instructions and twisted the top off to push what would be a equal uniform amount out of the tube and a load of black came out and small amount of white. We all know the outcome here!! mixed it anyway and took 7 hours to go off. Not 15 min. So obviously next time instead of pointing down like we do with araldite cartridges I pointed upwards using gravity but to no avail. Used a third time and a lot more white came out!! Also the crap design has a few location lugs to locate the cap so restricted placing of mixing plate. Mine may be faulty but used hundreds of twin pack adhesives and this is the worst design so good luck to you as wastage is high. Yes WHEN mixed in the right proportion it is very good and does go off but it needs a araldite tube dispensing design.
Needed to repair a cracked mower grass box cover in 4mm moulded ABS. Skimmed the underside surfaces for good adhesion, light sanded an acrylic bonding sheet. Mixed quickly and used the J-B Weld to fill the cracks in the cover and stick the bonding plate underneath. It worked very well and a lot better than trying to find a replacement grass collector cover. Usage - Mix equal quantities from the tubes. Work quickly. Allow to cure for 24 hours or longer to ensure rock hard with no tackiness. When set, the glue has some flex but as others have said, is rock hard and not brittle. Would recommend.
The two parts of this mix to a fairly thin liquid which makes it easy to apply where you want it. It then sets in a very reasonable time as well. After I left it overnight I found it to be the toughest and most rigid adhesive I've ever seen - almost unbreakable! It sets almost like its ceramic. As long as there is something for this to key on to (which IS important for nearly all "glueing") and the surfaces are clean you won't be able to pull the job apart. I bought it to repair the split in the fibreglass reinforced ABS back of a guitar and have since been amazed how good this stuff is!
I bought this to glue some plastic on a DJI drone. I pretty much had one shot at glueing this so thought this would be the best glue for the job, sensing that super glue might not work at all. Anyway it claims it sets in 15 minutes, well after 15 mins I let go and the part fell to bits. The glue i mixed on the tray was still not set properly after 4 hours. Pretty much a complete disaster, very dissapointing.
ps I tried my best to get an even mix of the black glue and the white hardener.
A clip snapped off my son’s hard, plastic slide. I bought this to glue it back together because of the promise that it would bond together hard plastic and is suitable for car parts. However it didn’t set fully hard, even after 48 hours, and could easily be snapped off. I tried a second time in case I didn’t have an even 50-50 mix the first time. but the same happened again. It sets like rubber, not hard plastic.
I spent ages deciding what would be the best way to bond two pieces of plastic together. Having looked at several products I decided on this. I wanted to bond two pieces of black plastic together and finding that this was available in black was a bonus. Dispensing the right amount and mixing is easy, the product is quite thin but this wasn't a problem for me. It starts to cure quite quickly and I hastened this by placing my item on a radiator. I came back after 30 minutes and it was absolutely solid. I bonded a threaded component onto another component that was long and thin. When I came to screw the whole assembly I had bonded onto another part of the structure I had to rotate the item I had bonded inducing some torque. I must admit I was biting my lip when I did so but the piece remained absolute solid. I can't praise this product enough, it far surpassed my expectations.
Used on properly cleaned and prepared surfaces this adhesive is unbeatable for plastic bumper repair, even though I have access to plastic welding kit I find in some circumstances this is better as a plastic weld can be brittle were as this has quite a bit of flex.
