I installed this product. It was tight on my door knob and did not spin very well so I knew it would not work. I asked my toddler to try it. She is 2.5 years old. She spun it to open it and because it was so tight on our door knob it kinda grabbed and held so when she spun it a second time the door opened. I have a video of it if the company is interested in seeing the issue. Either way, it did not work so we have to send it back. Go through the hassle of dropping it at the post office, etc. Maybe it will work on a different door knob but ours are standard. I did notice the product was smaller than ones i remember from the past.
These didn't work so well, I've used these kind in the past and they worked well so I am assuming this brand is not very good. Either they snap off the handle after a few uses or they simply don't work at all and instead of making it hard for my kids to open doors they make it easier for them. My 1.5 year old was able to grab the handle and still was able to turn the handle it seems like one will work and the other three were defective possibly.
These are incredibly easy to put on and they absolutely work. If you have smaller children, this is pure peace of mind that you child can't get into an unwanted room anymore. I've placed these on my laundry, garage, front and side doors. They are also easy to open for adults (simply squeeze the buttons together). Highly recommended.
My 2 year old opens this no problem. Doesn't work for us.
The issue is that the finger and thumb grips have rubber on the inside as well to help grip the knob - when a baby grips the ball to open the door, it does the same thing for them too, so it can easily be opened.
These work so well that half of the grown adults trying to get out of our home can’t get out on the first try either. They are great quality and once your used to them they’re super simple to use and don’t require much effort to use.
I purchased this item as my husband has dementia and some days his moods cause concern that he could be a flight risk; I needed to be able to leave him for short periods of time and know I could have peace of mind. It was a bit of a struggle to make sure the slots lined up properly to our particular door knob...but pretty good fit and hopefully it will be a deterrent enough to keep him safe.
The problem of this product is that if someone pull the knob cover and twist the door knob, that will open the door. that's how my son open the door with this cover one... When the cover is pull hard enough and has enough amount of friction between the cover and door knob, one doesn't have to press the grey spots to open the door at all....
These do NOT fit all doors. Out of the four doors we wanted them for, they fit 1 properly, 1 a little tight and not at all on two. For the one that was a little tight, I pulled the tabs off and not it must be used like the old styles with holes and fingertips.
The only safety locks available locally are safety 1 brand, their locks haven’t been the most durable for my family and their knob locks didn’t fit at all.
It took a few days for these to arrive but once they did it took a minute to see how to attaché them to the door knob and I had all four installed in ten minutes which has made my main floor so much safer for a curious toddler. I’m happy with the durability, installation process and fit for our doors.
