This is an Outstanding bad that does everything it claims. I have been using it every day on the bike for the commute to work and it has been flawless both in comfort, security and waterproofing. Some days it's filled to the max with laptop, clothes etc some days it's just got a shirt and my lunch but performs just as well.
I have been really looking after it as I was concerned about puncturing or damaging it but the material seems extreamly resiliant and the continuous folding and unfolding of the top does not seem to be causing any issues.
Very happy and would recommend this if you are looking to garentee your contents make it safely and dry to your destination.
This is an excellent bag and it keeps contents dry as it claims. The only hassle is there are no handy pockets apart from the netting for bottles. Usually, on a backpack you have some external pockets so you can quickly get to much used items like phone, keys, wallet, dog treats, nail clippers, compass whatever. Everything has to go in just like a carrier bag so you have to feel around for stuff. If you organise things into small bags and Tupperware boxes and put them in it’s easier. Certainly a lot of room in the bag and very comfortable. Can get a bit hot against your back on hot days due to the material it’s made of (rubber?)
Used as a holiday backpack for places where sudden downpours occur to carry photo equipment and day hike sundries. Worked well with no leaks even when wading in deep mountain pools. Big enough for day hike bits such as camera, swimming gear, passport, money lunch and water bottles. Inside zip pocket was useful for small bits like money phone and passport. Straps where comfortable and the ability to either close by folding 3/4 times and clip to either sides or in the more traditional back on self style meant capacity could be maximised or used with a much smaller load without affecting waterproof capabilities. Will be using in UK as well as future holidays as is useful for UK weather and/or in areas where water is at risk of seeping into your bag and damaging contents (cameras in my case). Obviously you will need to be aware of note using bag for sharp objects and making sure you don’t rub over external objects such as barnacles etc to the point that the material gets holes in. Always check for damage before trips as over time I am sure accidental holes will occur but initial condition and material, if bag is closed correctly, has been totally waterproof.
I bought this for ghyll scrambling in the Lake District, which often involves some swimming or deep wading across pools, so I needed a pack that is completely waterproof but which can also be worn as a proper backpack for the climbing and hiking sections. I used this pack yesterday for the first time and it really did the job. The only reason I haven't given it five stars, is that it would benefit from the addition of a waist-belt which would make it more comfortable to carry. In all other respects, I found the pack performed really well, big enough to take all the gear I needed for a full day and it kept everything dry despite immersion.
It has passed the test of kayaking so far. Very pack able, no compartments except a small zipped pocket maybe passport or small wallet size. Side pockets are small and not very well made so I wouldn’t keep there valuable things...I don’t know how long shoulders straps will last because comparing to normal backpacks like The north face or tactical 5.11 they don’t look very reliable. I want mention about chest and waist straps quality...Having a lot of experience in hiking and scrambling I know I wouldn’t take this backpack for canyoning which would include hiking, scrambling, climbing and swimming because I think is too weak. It is ok for having things in it when is laying in the boat or kayak. It is my first waterproof backpack so I can’t say much more about it. Can recommend it only if you don’t consider harder trips. It seams to be waterproof so far.
Purchased after doing lots of research (US Amazon has lots of very positive reviews for this product). Given the positive reviews and competitive price I opted for this one over more expensive, branded products. Money well spent and it performed as expected on two capsizes - contents remained perfectly dry. Has in internal zipped pocket and was easy to carry slung over shoulder. Felt comfortable enough when worn as rucksack. All in all a very good product.
So used this yesterday in torrential downpour on a MTB trail splashing through puddles and all for about 2 hours. Eveyrthign inside dry! I knew it was water proof from shoping excursions BUT after yesterdays rain its contents were the only thing on myself that were dry!
Its also a HUGE bag, but can fold down really small when required. Worth a buy. Still no rips or tears after many heavy shopping trips.
Really good backpack, does the job of protecting its contents from water 100%. The only 2 things I'd change are: 1) Add some internal pockets (there is only one and it tiny 2) Prevent the opening from closing itself when you put contents in. This makes packing a little awkward, because the opening needs to be held open with two hands which leaves you with no hands to pack. But it is managable, maybe needs time to get used to it.
I bought this bag to travel for four months around Eastern Europe and Asia, I needed a bag which could preform every day as I was hiking and travelling rough for the majority of my travels.
I have to say I am blown away with the quality and durability of this bag, it fulfilled every need as the additional straps can easily compress the bag by a third and make it more resistant to knocks and hits.
I would only recommend that a strap could be developed around the waist for additional support when walking and running but I understand the bag is not designed to be hiked around for months at a time.
The first bag I got must’ve had an issue so I returned it, (it happens), but the company offered me a waterproof dry bag in its place. This shows me that the manufacturer really cares about their product and their customers, so kudos for that! Additionally I will add that the dry bag I received is excellent! I live in Ireland and also travel so it will get a lot of use, perfect for peace of mind for my camera equipment and phone as well as other items. Thank you FE Active! I can recommend this company and their products.
