To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we do not use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.
I typically ADORE FLIR/Extech products.... I have a bunch of them in my lab at work, and for the most part they all rock. pH meters, electrical test equipment, and a couple different models of IR thermometers. This one is just not as awesome as the IR40, which isn't much more expensive and totally worth the extra $20!!! The problems this one has are how close you have to be to target, time to stabilize reading, and by extension, difficulty getting an accurate reading on a moving target. Since one of my applications is tumble-coating small aerospace parts in a drum, and involves heating them to cure the coating while the drum is still moving, I find that this unit isn't all that great and don't really trust it. So back to the IR40. ... I suppose anyone using this for stationary objects in close proximity will be fine, and the unit DID take a formal calibration from our Cal contractor just fine. It's accurate, just not all that sophisticated!
what I don't like about it it holds your measurement and you cant delete it unless you look up instructions, they should get rid of this feature or make it easy to remove previous readings,i just want to push a button and take a reading
The laser quit working within two weeks but it still measures accurately if you're not trying to pinpoint it exactly in a tiny area because of the lack of aim without the laser. Not worth the time involved to return it at the price point.
