In 15 years working as a journalist and documentary filmmaker in some pretty rough places I have never had a single piece of equipment get damaged while traveling. But after just a couple weeks of using this monitor it somehow became internally damaged during a 2 hr flight from Chicago to Dallas while wrapped in the provided protective cover and in a padded laptop sleeve in my carry on bag. I contacted Asus who told me they cannot replace, repair or refund the screen since the warranty does not cover physical damage. To market this monitor as a "travel monitor" is a joke. It's the most fragile piece of equipment I've ever owned, a complete waste of money.
During the couple weeks of use broke it worked OK, although not very bright. There are *far better* and *far cheaper* monitor options out there than this one. The only plus for this monitor is its size and weight, but if it can't survive being carefully tucked in a bag then it's useless. Do not buy it.
I am so upset! I purchased this Asus Zenscreen only 6 months ago to use with my laptop because I am working from home. The screen has not moved since I bought it and every morning I plug it into my laptop then unplug it when I am done for the day and just leave it. Well, this morning I turned on my laptop and plugged in the screen in and all I see is a green light on the power button and the screen is black. I have tried holding the power button, holding the menu button, and even holding both down together and nothing works. I have tried plugging it into my cell thinking it might be my laptop and the same thing happens. I cannot believe I spent this much money on something to only worked for 6 months. Normally I would not panic but after researching my issue on google this seems to be an ongoing problem that is being reported to Asus. Asus seems to think it is okay to take people's money and continue to sell a defective product. I am now going to try and leave it unplugged for 2 days to completely drain the battery and see if that helps. If not I will be contacting Asus which, to be honest, I don't expect much considering I have yet to read 1 positive experience with their customer service team. I cannot afford to buy a new screen so wish me luck. I will update this review if anything changes.
The screen worked great but the build quality needs to be improved. It is super fragile! Just holding it I had constant sounds and creaks come from it. The plastic bezel cracked in the top corner within the first week. Then I bumped my phone into the screen and it totally cracked the lcd. What makes it even worse is that when I sent it in to get repaired, the repair cost is more than buying a new one. Very unfortunate because this product checked off all the boxes for what I need in a product like this. Despite this I will probably buy it again unless I find a better alternative.
Like other reviewers have found, my screen seems to have died quite quickly. After 2.5 months of light use it no longer turns on. The power button doesn't light up at all, I've tried to debug this using common solutions found in the manual (hold power button for ~90 seconds) and by using a different charger and different cable, nothing seems to work.
For the first 2.5 months though, it truly was a great monitor though. I'm sad that I will need to spend time returning it.
Much worse then previous models; when using the pen to stand it up, the case splits open and the screen falls over. Inferior product manufacturing. Don't recommend. Barely used it and already defective. Asus customer service is incredibly poor to deal with for repairs. Still waiting to resolve Issue; Amazon refused since it was outside their replacement period. Do not recommend. Customer service with Asus is terrible! Buy something else!!!
Very disappointed in this product. I specifically wanted a screen with touch functionality. The only way it works is to connect to computer using USB C cable but the USB C port is also the port to charge and battery life is short. There is only one USB C port on the screen and there is no adapter that will allow it to accept two USB C cables. ASUS support was of no help. I would not recommend this product.
I guess I should have Googled it a little more, but when it said it works over USB-C, I believed them. It would not work with my Pixel Slate tablet. When I looked around on the interwebs, I found out that it turns out to be a known issue. This monitor draws more power than it is supposed to, more than is safe for the Pixel Slate's resistors to supply. I know there aren't many of us Slate owners around, but I thought I should warn anyone thinking of buying it.
Well, the screen just started showing this weird white block spot in the middle of the whole screen,
Trying to reach ASUS Support. SUPER FRUSTATING. The website only takes you to US website, so you cant CHAT them because you are out of the region, like if i chose to go their US Website, they forcedly redirect to the US Website to chat with agent for support.
I'm tech navy guy and I'm frustrated to try to reach there support that is not US, good luck for anyone who ill need they support.
Overall OKAY screen, lots of lights leakage around the corners, screen is kind of dark not so bright, hard to read in bright ambient.
