Everything looked good when it arrived until it was put into use. The first call I had after putting on my gear the clip came off my jacket and luckily my partner saw it and grabbed my gloves on our way to the truck. The next use was in the range at an accident where the Velcro just opened up dropping the gloves to the ground, luckily I saw them while cleaning up. Final use I was sweeping up glass from breaking a car side window when the clip popped open and again dropped dropped my gloves to the ground. I would not buy this product!!!!! You can not trust your gear will be there when you need it
I bought this glove strap over a year ago, and it works fine. Velcro is solid, the clasp is heavy duty. Where the issue comes in is how the strap is connected to the clasp. Within a few weeks of use, the stitching just came off or undone. I would've lost the strap if I hadn't seen it on the ground walking back to the truck after an incident. I have to make a conscious effort to remember to reattach the velcro after I take my gloves out, otherwise the strap falls to the ground. There's been at least 10 times where I've found it on the floor of the engine after a call. All in all, it does what is says it does, it just needs a little more focus on the stitching that connects the strap to the clasp.
I cant say how durable it is yet seeing as how its only been on my gear for a few weeks but the quality appears to be good. I haf a much older strap from another company that someone (a part timer I think) felt they needed my glove strap more than me bc I came into work one day and my new gloves along with my strap, my flashlight, and a rescue tool were missing from my gear. The rescue tool was mysteriously found in a vollys "engine floorboard" but the rest never showed back up. You can leave $1,000 in cash sitting on the stations kitchen table for a month and it will stay there untouched but God help you if you leave food in station or neat tools on your gear.
Pros: big heavy duty clip and the bright reflective tape sewn in.
Cons: the first time I used it the stitching that holds the whole thing together came undone. If I hadn’t seen it happen I would have lost the strap entirely. I sewed it back together myself and it works great now. Also the clip doesn’t need to be as heavy as it is. I said it’s a positive because I know it won’t break, but when you’re trying to save weight on your gear it’s overkill.
I gave it 1 star because Amazon would not let me give it no stars. The stitches are already coming out. The fabric cuts are jagged and uneven. The reflective strip is only half sewn on. I could have done a better job sewing it by hand., PLUS, Amazon says this item is not eligible for a refund!
This glove holder is well designed and holds up to daily use well. It has helped me to actually better organize my turnouts and free space up in my bunker pockets and put tools in them where I had alot of wasted space due to gloves. My only complaint I wish the strap was slightly longer, maybe by 2-3 inches but other than that well designed and worth the money
Excellent straps. These straps have one of the best fasteners I have ever utilized in the field. I don't have to worry about them breaking of falling off my equipment. The reflection can be seen for quite a distance and the Velcro is great. I highly recommend these straps to my fellow firefighters.
Glove strap failed on me after only a few uses. Too bad it is past the return deadline. I started using this product for my fire academy and it just failed on me. The spring for the spring load clip popped off while i was running on the fire grounds resulting in my glove holder and gloves to fall off my turnouts. Now I cannot use the glove holders. Do not recommend for use in any fire service application.
