Device spoilt after few months, no replacement allowed

The device has a firmware problem and self-navigates in the middle of reading back to home screen which means I cannot read now with the Kindle. The screen freezes all the time too and randomly highlights words while I'm reading. I've reset it 6 times, both factory resets and using the 40s method. I did not drop or damage the device in any way. This just happened one day. Customer service was completely unhelpful giving me advice I can find on a web search and then told me they couldn't help me because I live in Singapore (aka I do not have a US address), they will not honor the manufacturers warranty and send me a replacement device. Shocking. I completely get this- because this is how normal US multinational companies function it appears. Firstly I'm shocked at what a lousy product this is. Second, why would you sell a device where you do not wish to honor warranty, isn't that just bad for your reputation especially when there are cheaper much better engineered products in the market.
For anyone not in the US, do not buy any Amazon devices!!! It's not worth it, there are plenty of devices from Asian companies with better quality and engineering and at a more affordable price with global offices to handle these kind of warranty issues. Amazon is seriously out of touch with times. I wish I had bought a Samsung or Xiaomi tablet instead of wasting my money on this.
