Something has changed.. for several years I was making the best yogurt using the tablets with great success. However, the last 6 months I cannot make a single batch. I’ve monitored my process like a hawk, temperature, cleanliness, etc. I have bought new box’s of tablets and unable to get the tablets to culture. I have to assume the bacteria is not viable in the tablets. Very disappointing especially because tablets are not inexpensive.
This product was shipped without ice packs and when it arrived, it was so hot that I suspected the potency of the probiotic. Packages shipped to LA during summer time can get exposed to heats above 100 degrees Fahrenheit. That temperature is way above the recommended storage temperature. A simple yogurt test showed that there were no live cultures.
I've used this product to make yogurt, and have only been successful 1-2 times.
All other times the product did not make yogurt. If I buy regular yogurt at the grocery store and use it as a starter, that makes yogurt fine. I've done them both side by side, and these tablets do NOT make yogurt.
Other people have claimed higher success rate but it's not working for me 99% of the time. I can't think of any other reason but that the tablets do not contain live cultures by the time we get them.
All I ever get is separated milk and whey with no live culture inside.
I have been using this brand for about a year to make L-reuteri yogurt with great results. Previously buying BioGaia from a local store. First time ordered online shipped from Ukraine. Had a first time failure, tried another 2 times with different brands of whole milk and both failed. No change after 24 hours fermentation using same equipment it remained same consistency as whole milk. Company agreed to refund money if I returned remaining product but cost of shipping back to Ukraine is about as much as buying it again. Have read that if exposed to high temperatures it can destroy the bacteria.
Made multiple attemps to make yogurt with these according to the directions on the wheat belly website. All I got each time was complete separation of the milk into thick curds and lots of whey. I took the second pack for a month as directed and felt no benefit from it. All I got from it was an upset stomach each time I took it. I strongly feel like there was no live beneficial bacteria in these. Usually I am very happy with items I get from iherb. Unfortunately this was not one of those times.
It’s 90 degree weather and the tablets arrived not in a cool pack. Not sure if the bacteria are alive, since they are heat sensitive. Very disappointed . I’d rather pay more but receive it in a cool pack
