Ill start with a little background leading to why i chose this tablet
Ive been graphic designing for a couple years (i just turned 23) now on and off making logos and some video editing. For the past couple months I’ve been really in a creative drawing mood but i wanted to get into digital art. Originally i was going to get an iPad, something i could take with me wherever i go but its 400$ and thats a pretty big investment. So i started looking into drawing tablets and watching youtube reviews and decided to go with this. Especially since i already use photo shop and am pretty familiar with the program.
Now for my first review. I plan on doing a couple of reviews/updates because i feel like I’d be helpful for people who are looking into getting this with little to no drawing experience like myself.
09-04-21 The tablet got delivered and i was super excited to get it plugged in. I already watched youtube videos on how to set it up so i didn't have a problem with that. Surprisingly after about 5 mins of going through Gaomons program i was already used to using the pen as a mouse. I started up Ps and started just testing the pen pressure drawing lines. I also changed some of the buttons on the side to some shortcuts i thought would be helpful. I actually didnt use my keyboard for a little bit. I honestly didnt take me long to get use to the tablet after playing around with it for about 30 mins. My only complaint and why i didn't give it a 5 star is that the pen sounds like it’s scratching the surface. Other than that i love it and will be spending a lot of time with it and learning drawing fundamentals.
09-08-21 Welp im trying to keep my head high but I’ve already run into my first problem. Today was the first day i really had free time to sit and use the tablet. I used it for about 12 and everything wad going well untill about the last 2 hours randomly in photoshop and it happens pretty often it'll either draw a line across my canvass or erase a line through it, the annoying part is that it only does it when im finish say filling in a spot and i lift the pen off the tablet it'll draw a line across my work. So now i have to lift the pen pretty often to keep the line from popping up then i have to undo whatever i just did. The picture is what i spent all day working on. First tracing the original, then tracing my trace with a different brush and now color. I love the tablet and originally had it at 4* wouldve been 5 because the scratching sound that made me give it a 4 went away. Im giving it a 3 because i haven’t used the tablet for a full day and the problem with the line makes it really frustrating to try and get in a work flow because who knows when a line will go through your work. And you do want to catch it because if you dont and cant undo it , you end up having to go and fill it what it messed up.
Well, this was my first graphic tablet. At the time I doesn't know how graphic tablet works.
The software is full of bug interfere with other softwares. In this case in foundry nuke if I started to build big scripts it crashes. But if I do the same thing with mouse, It's works fine. In photoshop if I started to use any brushes to draw or do a touch up with the tablet. In this case photoshop brushes stopped working in the middle of drawing or working with the tablet. And again it's works fine with mouse.
I have to buy a new one. Because the USB micro b has been broken. It was loose since it is a micro b.
So I can't exactly show it I was excited to buy this tablet I had bought the original gaomon m106k tablet that only had 2k pressure sensitivity and I really liked it but after having that tablet for 4 years and it really starting to ware on the drawing area I decided to buy this one. And to be honest I'm a little scared it looked great at first until I ran my hand across the tablet I noticed it felt bumpy not like little bumps here and there just like there was an air pocket in like a plastic protection like you have when you first buy a phone or a TV the one where you peel off the plastic. I'm hopeing in the coming days it will sort itself out but im kind of scared it will lead to the tablet breaking on me. Edit: if you are heavy handed there is a problem. so if your heavy handed there is no support from the tablet in the middle and it doesn't lay flat with the desk cause the anti slip sticker things. I did fix it with some sound proof foam my dad had laying around in their basement so mine doesn't dip as much when i draw but be aware it will dip if you put to much pressure in the middle of the tablet
I bought this tablet last year and enjoyed using it immensely. I'd never had any issues with it, but the USB wire has become touchy and the tablet will no longer connect properly to my computer, making it effectively useless. This came suddenly and without warning. I was mid-drawing when my pen stopped registering and the buttons quit giving input. There's no visible damage on the plug-in or the USB wire.
It's a good tablet if you're broke and desperate for a drawing tablet. The buttons were very useful, even if the bottom set were off by one space. It worked well enough for what I used it for and I'll sorely miss it until I can get the funds to get something else.
I got this April of 2020, and I loved it - it is light weight, sturdy, the pen is nice, I've yet to have to replace the nib, I've replaced the cord a couple of times due to losing it, but over all, I really did like this tablet. I used it with Sketchbook on my Macbook Pro (late 2011), and more recently my Macbook Pro (mid 2012) after having to replace the older laptop.
Up until now I hadn't had any substantial problems with this tablet. It drew smoothly, but occasionally the driver would need to be reinstalled and it would have problems if the older driver file wasn't completely uninstalled before re-download, but that bit is user error. Now, after more than five minutes of use at a time the cursor starts to lag to the point that it destroys the touch sensitivity most times. I've tried using Sketchbook without the tablet, drawing with my mousepad, and that worked fine, tried using Clip Paint after I bought it, and the tablet still lags after about five minutes. I've checked my CPUs, uninstalled and reinstalled the driver multiple times, nothing is fixing it.
So, I'm in the market for a new tablet again, but this one works great for the first while I guess.
nowhere near as responsive or accurate as the last gaomon tablet i had used for years, i expected it to behave similarly but it was extremely delayed with a reduced hover height compared to the last tablet, this problem was apparent while using in house drivers aswell as open drivers
It was working really great at first. But then it just stopped working. I got it all connected correctly, I made sure it was still installed. I tried many different things I could think of to get it to work for my laptop again, but not even uninstalling and reinstalling it worked. I did that move very last. Like I said it worked great, up until it stopped.
