I'm using the sunshade on a Dodge Ram pickup, and I fold it and put it behind the seat when not using it, rather that placing it in the little carry case. After several years of messing with flimsy cardboard and foil shades, which have been decreasing in quality over the last decade or two, these shades are a joy to use. Just flop them open and push them onto the dash. Pull out the corners and around the mirror, lower the car's shades, and walk off. That's it. Note that this Ram is a full size truck with a large rakish windshield, so this is one of the larger model shades. I suspect that the smaller ones would be much faster/easier to fold and store. Over all, this is the best experience I've ever had with car shades. :)
I ordered a medium for my 2017 Lexus GS350. I even wrote the company and was told I need a medium for my car. It is huge, it fits a van rather than my little car. I end up giving it away to someone who can use it. After I posted the review, I got an email from the seller. They then send me 2 difference sizes of shade for me to try, one fit perfectly. I appreciated all the efforts they made and the way they gone out of their way to satisfied their customers. Definitely will recommend them to my friends and family. Btw, I like the quality of the shade too.
I live in the southeast along the coastline where temps during the summer are between 80-100 with extremely high humidity. I also drive a black car with black interior so a windshield sun shade is extremely vital!!! I had the typical version that you would buy from your local store that was reflective but found that it was EXTREMELY lacking due to it not fitting behind the visors, or covering the windshield completely. It had gotten to the point that it was falling down after setting it up so I decided to purchase this as a replacement and I am extremely glad that I did! It fits in my windshield without the sun visors, fills the windshield completely and works! Between this and ceramic tint my car is quite a bit cooler than it would be without the combination! I would gladly purchase this again! As a matter of fact I plan on buying several more for the several other vehicles in the household. For the price you will not regret it! I love how it just pops in the windsheld and stays without support. If you are remotely on the fence just buy it and give it a try you will love it once you see the difference!
I followed the chart for buying the right one - my Nissan Murano is listed as the largest size. So I bought the largest one and yes, it fits across my SUV's front windshield, but because it is SO big, it is somewhat difficult to manipulate. I mean, I'm an average sized woman - 5' 4" and this screen is probably nearly as tall as me! Getting it folded up or unfolded with the driver's door closed is a PITA! I normally open the driver's door and pull it out to fold/unfold it and make sure I know where the elastic band is or it will pop back open (without the elastic band to hold it closed). It does work though - just not an easy window cover at times. I should say that the reason I bought this one in particular has to do with camping in my SUV. I have an SUV tent, a mattress for the back of my SUV and this cover is to cover the windshield so that I can sleep without people being able to look in and see me sleeping. I have covers for my side windows as well. For what I bought it for, it works perfectly. For keeping the sun out of my SUV, it also works wonderfully. It's just takes a bit to get it unfolded or folded.
If I could give A1 shades 10 stars instead of 5, I would. They really do mean that they will work with you until they get it right. I have a Volvo XC90, which is not listed in their car guide. I contacted the company directly, as mentioned to do in their ad. They sent me what they thought was the right size - a small sunshade in a round shape. It did not fit. While the circles fit horizontally across, they were over 4 inches short on the vertical. There was also a pretty large overlap of the circles in the center of the windshield. I contacted the company about this and based on the information I provided and the photos I sent them, they sent me the same size shade but in an oval instead of a circle. While the middle overlap was reduced, and while the vertical height was better, it was still just under 3 inches short.
One of the things that A1Shades advertises is that their sunshades can be held in place themselves - they don't need the visor to hold them in place. If the shade is short on the vertical, it requires the visor. So I contacted them back again and sent them photos so they could see the issue. The problem was that they had not dealt with Volvo XC90's before and so fitting my windshield was new for them. The point of me saying this is that (1) they were honest enough to admit that, which is unusual to find and is a mark of integrity, and (2) they were not only willing but desirous to continue working with me until we got the right fit, especially since this was a new situation for them. The third shade they sent was again an oval shape that was 4 inches taller on the vertical. While this one is ever so slightly large, it fits 99% - good enough for me!
Speaking about the fit: the circles or the ovals are made up of metal wire flexible banding. It is designed to not lay on your windshield but actually tuck in the little gap between your car's frame and the windshield. That is what holds it in place instead of the visor. There is a little bit of a learning curve with putting this up, as it's bigger and more floppy than the accordion-style shades. Just be patient and practice with it a few times and you'll be good.
If you are thinking of getting a shade from A1, I would not hesitate. They were extremely prompt in every single response, courteous, and took the initiative to follow up on their own. The product itself is well made and I think actually works a little better in heat defllection than the accordion style my husband has in his vehicle.
I have a Honda Odyssey with a big honkin' windshield. The cardboard shade I bought last summer did not even begin to fit my windshield because it is so deep! If I had the shade even slightly uneven, it wasn't tall enough for the sun visors to catch and keep it in place. This fabric sunshade is GREAT! It fits so well and covers every last inch of my windshield. I love this design - even though I've struggled a little with folding it, I always manage to get it folded and back into its bag. Living in North Carolina, this shade is a need, not a want. I have recommended it to all of my friends and my family because it does a great job :)
This is the only sun shade I’ve found that’s big enough for my Honda Fit. I bought the XXL and it fits perfectly. It’s a bit cumbersome to fold, but that’s not a big deal and you get the hang of it. I do notice a difference in my car’s temperature when I use this, and my steering wheel doesn’t get hot. Overall I’m really happy with this sun shade!
These things are a life saver! I ordered two, I park outside in the Houston heat at work & in my driveway. Now, will these have you car cool after sitting in blistering heat all day?.... No. But what they will do is completely (95%) block the sun from shining thru your windshield. When I get back to my car at the end of my work day, it's like a oven in my car, but I leave the shade on my windshield, crack the back windows, turn the ac on as low as the temp allows and as fast as the fan can blow, & and in 5 good minutes my car is comfortable, I get in give it another 3-5 mins to cool off, then I head home. With a regular shade the accordion style, I would be half way home before my car is cool. Buy em & try em...
Works as expected. Definitely of a bit higher quality nylon than similar items. When following the "fit chart," it's definitely the right size (Small) for my BMW 430i Coupe. Folding it is a bit cumbersome the first time you do it, but it becomes second nature after you do it a few times. You also have to tuck the loose edges outside of the rigid "circles" once you put it in place on the windshield, but it does ensure complete coverage of the windshield. The best part is that folds into a small enough size to tuck it away easily (e.g., in a seat-back pocket) - much better than those "accordion" style sun shades that take up your whole back seat!
