I love the look of this bottle and the size is awesome. But you have to suck so hard to use the straw feature… I thought it must have been a defect of the bottle I received because I didn’t see anyone else comment this so I got a replacement. Same thing. If you slightly loosen the lid it has much better flow but then it leaks because the lid isn’t screwed all the way. Poor design
8/8 update: I've had this bottle for about 2 months now and though I loved it at first, now not so much. It leaks something awful. I cant toss it in my backpack and take it to work like i wanted to without it leaking all over the bottom of my bag. I hate having to carry it to keep it from leaking. And since it doesnt fit in the cup holder, it's a pain trying to keep it upright to keep it from leaking all over the car. Unfortunately I'm past the return window so theres nothing i can do. It still keeps my water cold but what good is a leaky bottle?
Original review: Love this bottle! Wish I had gotten a bigger one, but hey, first world problems. Love that it keeps the ice for hours so your water stays cold for so long! I'm thinking I need to buy one for my mom.
I was so excited when I ordered this water bottle, and equally as disappointed when it arrived. I have another Simple Modern water bottle for work that I absolutely love. When I saw this mountain design and color scheme I knew the 40oz size would be perfect to carry around for daily activities. Unfortunately when it arrived, it did not look the same as the picture. There is an ugly design seam down the side and the top has a wrinkled look to it. The concept was great, the execution was not. At this price point it is not worth keeping and I will be sending it back. I hope Simple Modern sticks with what they do well, which is apparently the solid color and ombré designs.
I bought this water bottle because, as a home care nurse spending a good part of my day on the road (and the other part at the patient's bedside), I need to be able to have water with my as I drive from visit to visit. I have a 20oz stainless steel water bottle from another company that keeps my water very cold (just as I like it) all day...even when left in the car on a hot summer day. But 20oz isn't enough. I wanted a larger stainless steel bottle that (I had hoped) would also keep my water very cold so I could refill my 20oz thru-out the day. 1. It's a large bottle, a little too big for my hands. The upside is that the top screws on very tightly; too tightly perhaps so that I have trouble holding this bottle and getting the top off easily. 2. I have filled it with ice water from the fridge w/ 6 or more ice cubes. Unless kept in a separate cooler w/ freezer packs, the ice melts and the water doesn't stay cold.
If I had found this in a store, I may have realized right off that it was too big for me to handle easily. My bad! But I could get over that if it kept my water at the temperature I want (as my other water bottle does). The search continues (or I dehydrate over the course of my work day).
Ok guys, first let me say I started off by buying the 24oz Ascent bottle and LOVED it. I wish I could have gotten the exact same style in the summit bottle when I decided I needed a larger capacity bottle with a wider mouth. None the less I found this bottle with the colour coded lid and boot and at a deal price, I figured I couldn't go wrong. The size and weight seemed fine but I still felt like I was running out of water with this even at the gym. Nonetheless I figured I'd make it work and just sip a little less.(Probably need a 40oz in the future) however my issue is coming from how well this can keep liquids cold. Whenever I fill it up and go to the gym or just head out the house and take the bottle with me. I can feel a noticeable reduction in coldness or increase in temperature as I sip over the course of the day or even a gym session. We're just talking a few hours here so it kind of sucks because the Ascent would hit 24 hours with my water still very cold and even go beyond. I left ice cold water in my 32oz summit and after 12 hours it wasn't nearly as cold, still kinda cold but just nowhere close to as when it went in. By 24 hours it really was not cold at all. I tried this multiple times with various lenghts of time and various intervals and all have sadly come up short. Not impressed. I'm not necessarily bashing Simple Modern as I have 2 other bottles from them which are decent, albeit in different styles. I'm just disappointed.
*UPDATE* My bottles got major dents in the bottom sooooo easily. I got 3 bottles and within a week 2 had massive dents from being dropped from less then 3 feet off the ground. Now they sit all wonky since the dents are on the bottom. I thought that being steel would make them a little harder to dent so badly. I just dropped them from my hand and they hit the floor at my office.
This was the initial 5 star review from the first few days of having them: So beautiful! I like to drink my water at room temperature. This keeps my water the perfect temperature ALL day long, even when I accidentally leave it in the hot car while grocery shopping. I got the 40oz bottle and it is the perfect size for me. I love it so much I got in in 2 other colors. They are sturdy and will last forever. I love that there is a very minimal plastic amount that touches the water (just the inside of the lid) and it only touches it if the bottle is not up right. The texture of the outside of the bottle is very nice, it is easy to wash and feels good in my hand plus it gives it some grip so I don't drop it. they may be on the expensive side for just a water bottle but it is 1,000% worth it! Since they will last so long you wont have to spend money on any other bottles.
This water bottle shot water at me the first time I used it, and soaked my chest. I gave it a couple more tries, pointing it away from me, but after three, I gave up; it might as well have been a water gun, seriously. The bottle is definitely going back, despite being adorable. Honestly, useless. Buy an "Iron Flask". It will hold soda, and even with the carbonation it still just makes a half a second of a hissing noise and then it's fine.
The Amazon product page claims 40 hours cold for the 64oz. The box for the product that I received claims 24 hours cold. I'd say its closer to like 8-10 hours cold. I take it to work and fill it with ice water. By the time my work day is over (8.5 hours), all the ice has melted and the water is only slightly colder than room temperature (and I work indoors most of the time). Don't expect more than maybe 10 hours at most of keeping beverages cold. The only way it can stay "cold" for 24+ hours is maybe if you started with the water inside completely frozen. Also, as others have described, the 64oz is extremely wide. It should have been made a bit skinnier and a bit taller instead.
I would not really recommend this product. I'd suggest going with something better. One of the reasons I purchased this product is the fact it claimed 40 hours cold, so I was hoping for maybe at least 20-24 hours.
