Love these in some ways - great size though I still cut then up for my puppy. I use the dust to charge up the kibble for training treats. These really make him perk up and have helped with his training. Cons - super expensive! 4oz for $16 when you can get 21oz for $30?!
I guess it's my fault for not really doing the math.....the package is only a few ounces and it says it contains about 475 treats. Translation - boy are they small! See photo. This could be fine for smaller dogs but our 130# Rottie literally inhaled them when we gave them to him. That caused him to choke on them, probably 10% to 20% of the time. It was bad enough several times where he vomited. On the positive side, he loved the smell and the taste. It's just not worth it to be in the middle of training with him and then he starts choking, gagging, coughing, etc. We need to find another solution.
Bought these treats to use in everyday training with my ten week old puppy. The puppy is sweet and tries hard, and responds with pleasure to other treats used as rewards in training. But these left her cold. She would make an effort, sit for her reward and — blah. Would let the treat drop from her mouth. These treats are freeze dried and weigh practically nothing— discouraging for the price you pay! I have since found that supermarket treats that limit ingredients and preservatives work much better— I cut them down to mini size and put them in a treat cup (little jars). No need to spend so much to get tiny little treats like these — especially when they hold so little appeal for your pup.
Edit- the beef ones are great (see original feedback on those below). I then got the chicken ones. They are very hard and my pup wouldn’t eat them. When I contacted customer support they explained that they are using a new formula. They refunded my purchase and are sending me a bag of the original beef treats. I was very impressed with how they ultimately rectified the situation! I hope they go back to the original formula for future batches!
Original review: My puppy loves these treats:) The only reason I’m not giving it 5 is because it’s pretty expensive for the quality and they also crumble easily. I’d like it if they were easier to pull apart so that I could give my puppy smaller pieces more easily.
For the price, I didn't notice that they were $4 an ounce. The 450 pieces seemed reasonable for $16 but when the pieces were the size of kibble, are they really that special to the dogs? We will see how the puppies like them but they are totally out of my budget for the future. Maybe my 2 puppies will learn exceptional things with this package. I did like that there were only 3 ingredients and not filled with chemicals, fillers, and additives.
The zipper bag arrived open and treats spilled on the floor when I opened the outer envelope mailer. The dogs took care of the mess so I guess they liked them. What was left was half dust. I don’t think there are as many pieces as described and the pieces that we do have are most smaller than a pencil eraser.
These are NOT soft. I searched SOFT training treats and this is the first that comes up. My lab who will eat literally anything of course eats them but not soft. Try instead...Cloud Star Tricky Trainers... these are soft and great for positive reinforcement.
I bought this for as a new treat for working in a new task for my boy. They ARE the perfect size but my boy didn't care for them. My youngest dog will eat anything and she'll take them. My eldest dog who checks before she chews didn't care for them. There is no accounting for taste so I give them the benifit of the doubt at 3 stars.
This is a first because my puppy eats everything like a Billy Goat, but she turned her nose up at these. I tried repeatedly sneaking them in between the Pupford rabbit treats, various times per day and even when she was super hungry. She sniffed it and looked at me like, “Nope.” So I have stars because the ingredients and low cal and the company are awesome. But my pup didn’t like them.
These treats have great potential. They have a great texture and crunch. But these things are way to small. My dog is only medium sized (24 lbs) and these get mostly swallowed whole even if I give a couple at a time.
The little treat nuggets need to be at least twice as big or maybe even more.
