I don't like the fact that it keeps loosing Verizon signal and it won't send out text . When I reach out to BLU products for support they kinda tell me just deal with it . I bought this phone because it was compatible with Verizon and that it will run Android pie . I am so unsatisfied with the purchase there where so many other options but I chose this one because of the fact it stated it would offer software support which it doesn't .
I took like a month to decide what phone to get. My s8 was fine so no rush to get another. I wanted a bigger screen size so I chose this phone. I have to send one back because the keyboard lagged so badly. This phone had a great screen. It has good camera. The rest isn't good. I have terrible reception! I thought the issue was my cell provider but when other people sat in my home with the same cell provider but with thier s8 and s9 they both had perfect 5 bars and 4g while I had 0-1 bars and 4 g comes and goes. I usually don't get phone reception in my house while everyone else does so it has to be the phone. The Voice to text works maybe 5% of the time on any app or just texting. Spell check doesn't work at all.
*UPDATE: OF THE TWO BLU VIVO PHONES I BOUGHT THIS LAST NOVEMBER 2019 (ITS ONLY 7 MONTHS OLD NOW), ONLY ONE STILL WORKS PRETTY MUCH 100% PHYSICALLY. MY WIFE'S PHONE THE WIFI / DATA CHIPSETS ONLY WORK INTERMITTENTLY AND DOG-SLOW. THE OTHER ISSUE IS THAT BLU KEEPS PROMISING THE ANDROID PIE UPDATE SINCE ITS 2018 RELEASE, BUT STILL HAS NOT PROVIDED ONE OTA TO EITHER OF US. I HAVE CONTACTED SUPPORT, BUT WITH NO REPLY OR RESULTS. IM NOW LOWERING MY RATING TO TWO STARS. IF I DIDNT LIKE MOST OF ITS HW FUNCTIONALITY AND PERFORMANCE, I WOULD TRUTHFULLY GIVE THIS PHONE & BLU COMPANY A SINGLE STAR FOR THEIR LACK OF HARDWARE/SOFTWARE SUPPORT.*
Overall, I would like to give this Blu XI+ a 4 to 4.2 stars, but the built-in camera software is badly unflattering for it's camera function, Android Pie OS upgrade is still a no-show after a year or more since release, and the Bluetooth has continuously poor sound quality (staticy) for phone calls shared to both my cars and Bluetooth speakers. The odd thing is that it streams music, such as Prime Music and Pandora cleanly, but poor Bluetooth phone connection to external devices. I use this Blu for car calls all the time, and although the phone itself has clear calling overall, the calling sound over Bluetooth connection, along with the other 2 issues I noted, makes this phone rate more of a 2 or 3 stars for me. Please fix these issues for us Blu, so I can happily adjust my ratings.
This phone will randomly cut itself off about a week after you turn it on for the first time. I am with verizon and most of the time I have to reboot the phone several times a day if I want to recieve any texts and half of the time it forwards people to voicemail that won't work instead of receiving calls. All the while, pandora will work fine on data; so it appears to be a software issue. They wanted to be innovative and remove the headphone jack, but made a phone that randomly disconnects from bluetooth devices or randomly turns itself off if you work it too hard like playing music and scrolling Facebook at one time. You can barely find cases for it. The screen doesn't stop at the little black part at the top where the camera and speaker is, it just is the screen covered by the bevel I guess you would call it. It was like someone thought of some really good features and hired a crackhead to implement them. I really have grown to hate the phone and I am out of the time to return it I believe.
My Blu Vivo XI+ came in yesterday. This phone is very unintuitive. It took me about 3 to 4 hours to learn how to turn notification sound on when a text message comes in. Today I spend all day to get the phone speaker to work correctly. Even with the volume set at max level, I can't hear a single word the person on the other end says. Unless I also turn on the loud speaker. That means you'll have no privacy because you always have to turn on the loud speaker when talking on the phone. I still can't figure this out. Probably this phone has a defective speaker. Many times a day, I keep getting an error telling me that I need a better access point for my wifi to work. Although I have one desktop, one laptop, one iapd air, one Samsung tablet, 2 Samsung smartphones, and a wireless security system at home. None of my devices at home complains about my access point. This piece of crap is going back as soon as I get a return authaurization number from Amazon. Besides being very user unfriendly, this phone definitely has a very steep learning curve. Goodbye Blu!
To sum up:
The good - cheap The bad -
Too many to mention. Very poor wifi connection. My connection used to be at 4 full bars, now it drops to one tiny dot or maybe two. Then the dots disappear and come back on, on and off. The learning curve is ridiculous. Two weeks after owning this phone, I still don't now how to make the phone notify me when an SMS message comes in. There ar so many settings that have unfamiliar terms. I'had used 3 other smartphones before this ne. Now I almost go in the Settings try to familar with the phone. Most of the times, I cuss my head iff because I don't know what the features are and what they are for. Worse yet, after my second day owning this phone, somehow I got the SMS notification to buzz me when a message came in. Because I've trying to get familiar with the phone features and how the settings work. Now the notification stops workng. I have no clue why and how to ge it to work again. Oh well, I get what I paid for.
Battery drains from 100 to 30 in about an hour. Called costumer support and was told that the warranty was voided because I had them replace the screen. I payed out of pocket for the fix. I was not informed at that time the warranty was going to be voided if I proceed with the repair. The battery is covered under warranty but they won't honor the warranty agreement. Very dissatisfied. After 7 Blu phones and bad costumer service experiences every time I won't purchase more from this company.
Update: Fingerprint scanner is not working for Apps, Bluetooth is not stable... I'm going to RETURN the phone. /// Bluetooth and WiFi disconnected spontaneously, I almost returned the phone, but I gave it another chance and made a 'factory reset'. Works OK for now... The BLU technician told me, that my phone is not eligible for the Android 9 update, but "later" they will make it upgradable, even if they promo clearly states "beginning of 2019", and I spoke with them in July 2019.
External Speaker quit working, so no ringer. After some effort, finally got am RMA. I received an email notice of them receiving the product on the 18th, even though the tracking number informed me it was delivered to them on the 14th. Then they notified me my that my microphone was fine. I replied that I had sent it in because of the speakers. I got a reply that simply acknowledged my email. Then crickets. I'm now
Seems like a very nice phone for the price. The 6GB of RAM shows with how smoothly it runs, the screen looks great, and, while I would prefer it to have an actual headphone port, other than that, the form factor is nice. Unfortunately, I bought it to use on Verizon, since it was advertised as working on Verizon as well as other carriers, and apparently BLU did not put an antenna into the phone capable of actually picking up a usable Verizon signal. It does NOT give an error that indicates the SIM card is invalid or anything like that, so I think it's set up with the software necessary to recognize a Verizon SIM. There are just no bars. Putting the exact same SIM into my old phone in the same exact location in my house yields several bars. The BLU VIVO XI+ gets none. The antenna probably just isn't the right hardware to actually pick up a Verizon signal.
