To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we do not use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.
I have installed an entire Renogy system into my Campervan. Before buying the system I looked at reviews and dismissed some of the complaints. Just like clockwork, the warranty expires and I start experiencing the failing equipment. Customer support is responsive, but offers no solutions other than "check the voltages with a meter".
The instructions were horrible. Just horrible. Also I didn't see anywhere where it says that this completely issolares your starter battery from your auxillary battery. So if you're like me and use both you either have to wire 2 different ways where it's connected to the charger while driving and when stopped disconnect from the charger and connect the 2 batteries. I called tech support and I'm in hold now after 1 hour and 55 minutes. When I called I was 20 th in line so I expected to wait a little while. And the numbers seemed to live about every 4 or 5 minutes. Then I become 1 in que and it's like no one hung up their call in 45 minutes. Or they all took a break. I've been 1 for 45 freaking minutes. Unheard of. Just be. So pissed. Because the wrong setting could mess up your battery or like me cause you to think your battery is bad and go out and buy a new one for no reason.
Chances are one won't need much help with the panels or many of their hardware accessories but other products really do need someone to be available to help when a more complicated device stops workin. I have attempted several times to get information regarding a DC-DC Charger and since the ONLY way to contact Renogy is through e-mail, I'm still waiting. Not even a response saying "we've received your inquiry" response.
Sorry Renogy if you read this, No more purchases from you unless you fix your Customer Support policies. Since Customer Support is a function that can easily be provided by a person working from home, the "It's Covid-19" excuse doesn't even make the starting line.
I bought a couple pieces from Renogy. Price was reduced a significant amount for sale after purchase. I called when I saw this expecting to get at least a partial credit due to the fact that I was still in the return window for the product. They told me they will not give any credit and I will need to pay shipping both ways and restocking fees (just to make it not worth my time). I consider this to be bad policy and poor treatment of a customer due to the fact that when dealing with Solar equipment you are spending thousands of dollars with these companies. More to follow on actual quality of the product and tech support after I install and use.
It just works once it's in place, but the involvement to get it there probably would be better served by buying a higher end device. No tech support, manual is horrible. Renogy has released a better model to surpass this one, so don't even consider this model unless you absolutely don't have the money.
D+ signal terminal stopped working. Can't get device to turn on. Great product when it works but only had it a little over a month when it stopped working. Of course it happend right after my return period expired.
