To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we do not use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.
Temperatures of my 3600x are the same as the stock cooler however the loudness is less than half. I cant hear any fan noise. I was expecting better, The scratches in the bottom plate are probably to blame
I'd hoped for better CPU tempatures after watching good reviews of the Fuma 2 cooler, but was disappointed by the results. Temps at idle are 3-5 deg C higher than my previous cooler. I originally installed the Fuma 2, using Arctic MX4 paste but reinstalled it using Scythe's paste, in case the first time had any issues. The 2nd install produced no change.
During my normal morning load (an email client, a graphical program, and a live stream all open), the CPU temps hang in the mid to low 50's. This compares with my old cooler to temps in the mid to high 40's. With more load the temps often rise into the 60's (not a spike). All these stats are at an ambient temperature approx 80 degrees F.
My system: Ryzen5 3600 & Radeon RX 5600 XT on an Asus x570 mobo, with three 120mm front intake fans & three 120mm exhaust (2 top & 1 rear). The Fuma 2 replaced a single-fan Cooler Master Hyper 212, which I've since moved to another computer in need of a replacement.
I have to say that the Scythe was an easy install & runs very quiet - both worth a star in my estimation. I will definitely be replacing this cooler. However, given the price & a nice design, I decided to tolerate the increased CPU temps, while I investigate other solutions.
Was upgrading from the Rev. b which has served me well for 3+ years.
Deep surface scratches and prominent pitting along edges of mounting surface render the cooler I go unusable. I debated installing anyway but running my fingernail along the surface I could feel it snagging the scratches and pits along the edges
Horrible quality control paired a long wait to receive it due to supply chain issues. Unfortunately I'll be switches to Noctua or liquid cooling I guess...
Maybe order two and return one in hopes you don't have crap luck like I did.
When the Scythe arrived it was missing the 4 screws needed for AMD installation. There was also no sticker over the bottom of the heatsink. I am fairly certain I got a used box, since additionally a thumb screw for Intel mounting was missing. I didn't need the intel part, but I did need the AMD screws.
I was very disappointed to have to have to contact Amazon for replacement. Now I must drop off the old one and my new PC build will be delayed by 3 days. I know - first world problems - but simple QC could have prevented this.
I hope when I get the replacement that the cooling performance is worth this hassle. Scythe, it appears you make a fantastic product at a great value, please improve QC.
I really want to love the Scythe Fuma 2, but their quality control is very bad. First one I received the larger fan was insanely loud and the cpu heatsink had scratches. The replacement also had some scratches but now the smaller fan is defective. Also the temps are a lot higher with the replacements. I really want to like it but I don't think I can recommend it.
