5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect Monitor for price

For 880$ with taxes in, this is the best monitor you can get. Read all the reviews, the people that give this 1 star either had a broken one, or they don't know what they're doing. Make sure you use a display port cable that is capable of doing DP v1.4 or you will not get the most out of it. I just got this for when Cyberpunk 2077 comes out and I'm pairing it with my 2080Ti K|ngP|n, the best one they make. I doubt I'll be able to get my hands on a 3080 due to all the scalpers, but it shouldnt matter since the kingpin cards are on par with the RTX Titan.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not what I was expecting have reading site & user reviews

It's a great monitor, but far from perfect.

1. Doesn't run 144hz at 4k with Nvidia sync, and need 2 display port cables which is super glitchy to set up
2. Doesn't have 10bit colour at 4K at 120hz, which I don't think many people realize as I didn't see it any in user review or site review. Huge disappointment, you need 10-bit colour to achieve real HDR, otherwise it's a gimmick
3. I should mention that the 120hz, although it was set to 120hz and monitor UI said also reported 120hz, it wasn't 120hz as I used the UFO monitor hz website test. It's fixed now by playing around with the cables and switching ports, but it's just a finicky monitor for what I expected.
4. HDR sometimes turns off on the monitor, making the monitor dull in colour, have to always turn HDR off and on in windows to re-enable. Not sure if this is monitor related though.

5.0 out of 5 stars Read this before you buy it!

My reason for upgrading: Remastered, hi-resolution Adventure Games are wasted in FHD.

This monitor is in the ballpark of most mid-range 1440p monitors. Why not push it to 4K at 144Hz?

I was underwhelmed by people bashing this monitor. I went from top of the line FHD 27" 240Hz.

To have 4x the pixel density, maintain the screen size and a difference in Hz the average person can't pick up - where is the catch?

The HDR. The way the HDR grading standard is layed out places this monitor at the very bottom at 400, rightfully so. However, with NVIDIA's control panel you can essentially tune out this monitor's very minor HDR issues.
Do not be discouraged by this being the only thing people can pick apart. The legs stand out a tad more, but makers like Alienware and Acer have very sturdy bases for this reason as well as the "Gaming" aesthetic.

For the price, what you get, and what you'd have to pay to get into HDR1000 or TrueBlack territory, buy it! You will not be dissapointed.

3.0 out of 5 stars Ouch

This is the best monitor you will ever buy. Yes it is expensive, but then you see why you spent so much after you power it on. After you go 2K at 165Hz with 4MS, and Gsync you will never go back to 1080P. This monitor is perfect out of the box. I did not need to play with any color settings at all. Games are amazing out of the box. The stand is super sturdy. I would say if you are sitting on the fence on buying a monitor do not wait too long this is the monitor for you. Plus all the extra features like the USB ports, the charging port. Way to go Acer you knocked this one out of the park. I myself may buy a second one for dual monitor setup. But be aware you want a nice beefy video card. I have the GTX1080TI, and I have nothing negative to say about this monitor. And IPS sure bears a TN panel any day.

After 3 years it died replaced with an Alienware 34 inch Gsynch , 3440x1440 a much better monitor, but expensive, the Predator has a crap scree, so as the its ASUS rival . Go deeper get a better monitor, you will need a powerful GPU,

1.0 out of 5 stars Terrible back light bleeding! Returned the next day and currently waiting on refund.

I understand that the IPS displays have a certain degree of IPS glow and all monitors with these specs are subject to a backlight bleed panel lottery. However, for the amount this monitor costs, these defects are unacceptable. Pictures of a black screen were taken at 50% brightness, 90% and in game, discoloration of dark areas around the edges are a real deal breaker as it is something you can't ignore once you notice it.

Aside from the back light bleeding the display itself was gorgeous, and playing games at 165Hz is something I want to go back to. I may have gotten a bad panel, but if this is the norm then save your money and choose another brand with better QC.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing overall monitor, poor menu configurations
Reviewed in Canada on 12 January 2021
Style Name: UHD (3840 x 2160)Verified Purchase
Pros:

- 4K 120Hz
- Great colour profile
- Nice accessibility options (blue light, light sensor etc.)
- Decent pivot and movement abilities

Cons:

- A lot of the menu configurations don't seem to save after a 'reboot'. Things like the Light Sensor only work properly when first applied, otherwise they don't work at all until you 'reapply' it. Other features like ASM never seem to save to any profile
- The stand tends to stick out way too much (and in length wise, not appearance)
- 144Hz is only achievable by sacrificing some quality

This monitor, for the price it was selling for was honestly a very sweet deal. To get 4K 120Hz baseline really opens up a whole new door to gaming experiences. Didn't bother trying out 144Hz mode as that does require you to sacrifice some quality (and not that many games can run at 144 fps anyway), but tbh didn't really feel like much was missed

My main issue did come from the menu panel settings. A lot of them just didn't seem to save no matter what I tried, which proved to be annoying because some settings like Light Sensor, which greatly help manage the brightness, had to be reapplied each time I wanted it to actually work.

4.0 out of 5 stars Predator vs Alienware vs Benq Ex3501 R
Reviewed in Canada on 7 March 2021

This is a fantastic monitor as per 2017 standards. In 2021 there are simply better monitors at lower price. I knew it before buying it. This is the third monitor hooked up to my system so comparing with the other one's are easier for me. First one is the Alienware 240 hz refresh rate 25inch Full HD monitor. It is buttery smooth and it is certainly perceivable compared to Predator's 165 hz refresh rate but Predator being 2k, texts are sharper and for anything else than competitive gaming the Acer is the better option. The BenQ is ultrawide 35 inch VA panel and I generally prefer IPS over VA. Even though it is a VA panel it is very vibrant and blacks are inky but the viewing angles are worse compared to the other too. Also the refresh rate tops out at 100 hz. Games like Witcher looks great in UW.
My only problem with the Acer is, it is too bright, even at zero brightness it is retina searing bright. I have to lower the contrast to zero as well to use it in the dark. Not sure if everyone has this problem.

If I could keep only one monitor out of the three, It will be probably the Acer, It is a compromise between the other two. That is only until a 32 inch OLED computer monitor arrives.

5.0 out of 5 stars but my particular panel was beautiful. No dead pixels
Reviewed in Canada on 5 April 2018

Very impressed with this monitor. Not much has what it offers, with 1440p, IPS Panel, 144hz, G-Sync. Not only that, but my particular panel was beautiful. No dead pixels, no nada. Just a very slight backlight bleed near the bottom center ish of the screen, and invisible in most applications. Comparing it side by side to my Dell U3415W, which is factory colour calibrated, I could say the colours are very similar. Dell monitor has a bit better color range/depth. But colours in the Acer monitor is still fantastic, and accurate.

I know a lot of people are afraid of getting a bad panel with this monitor, but I believe buying this monitor now will most likely net you a monitor that came from a new manufacturing batch with better QC.

3.0 out of 5 stars Screen scratches
Reviewed in Canada on 18 October 2020
Style Name: UHD (3840 x 2160)Verified Purchase
Just like another reviewer, I had scratches on my screen and had to send it back. Acer needs to address why this is happening. The screen was new (box was sealed) but you could clearly see that it had (1) Scratches in the screen 3 different places (2) wipe marks / water cloth marks from being poorly wiped down at the factory. I wanted to keep it because the image quality was great as were the features but no joy. Other things to consider: 27" feels small, and at this price it makes sense to consider TVs as well as they have similar feature sets (HDR, Quantum dot screen, 120hz) but you can also start considering FALD TVs that help image quality in amazing ways. it's also cheaper to buy a 1080P or QHD 144hz monitor AND a dedicated IPS 4K monitor for the price of just this Acer monitor... something to consider depending on your use case and budget.

2.0 out of 5 stars Glitchy Mess
Reviewed in Canada on 7 February 2021
Style Name: UHD (3840 x 2160)Verified Purchase
Ordered the XB273K Oct 2020 hooked up double display port for 144 hz at 4k and had nothing but problems trying to get it to work. I'm running a new rig (i7 10700k and a RTX 3080) so not a problem with the pc. 144 hz works only if you turn off HDR and cannot do 10 bit colour (8 bit plus dithering). My experience with 144 hz was when turned on sometimes I would lose monitor signal and have to reboot the whole computer and even then it would glitch with half the screen looking like a 90's static tv signal. When it did work I could not manually power off the monitor because when powered back on the monitor would not be able to find a signal. I had to reboot the computer by powering off the pc (not good for memory health) for the signal to return. Contacted acer, they did send me replacement display port cables to see if that was the issue. Issue remained. Good customer support experience. Sent monitor back for a replacement. Amazon customer support was great as well, lucky I could return by end of Jan or I would be stuck with this monitor. Same issue with the replacement monitor and that monitor had a backlight bleed issue. Quality control pretty poor with this monitor. Sent it back and am purchasing a different monitor. If you want a monitor that can do 120 hz with HDR, it's a nice monitor, I had no issues at 120 hz and picture quality was great, but I bought this monitor for all the features advertised and therefore returned it.
