My wife and I have several Flask bottles, we think they are great and like the colors. I decided to purchase a new one in a smaller size and I saw this handle and thought it would be great to get as well. I saw some reviews mentioning that it broke on the first try but I figured that was a fluke so I ordered it along with my new bottle. I got both of these 2 days ago. I put the handle on my bottle this morning and took it to the gym. The handle snapped as soon as I got out of the car and was walking into the gym dropping my new bottle on the asphalt and denting it pretty badly. I can't believe flask would sell this piece of crap. Do not ignore the negative reviews this handle is terrible, I didn't even get a full days use out of it and now my brand new bottle is damaged.
Update: I increased my review by a star due to Iron Flask's customer service. When I reached out about the damaged bottle they refunded me the cost of the paracord handle and sent me a new bottle. While the paracord handle isn't good quality the customer service was great.
The first day I used this product in my 64 oz iron flask bottle, the handle dropped the water bottle and dented the bottom of the bottle. I was so upset thinking I was securely placing the handle correctly and all of sudden baaannnggg. There should be a better to securely attach this handle to the bottle. It was not intuitively otherwise It would have never dropped to the floor. The mechanism to secure the handle is not thick, very flimsy. I am still using the handle but I check every time I fill up the bottle with water. This seems like an after thought product.
The water bottle itself performs well. However, I ordered the 32 oz as I was afraid the 40 oz would not fit in my car cup holder. The 32 oz fits in my minivan's cupholder by not in my Camry. The 32 oz also has a different neck size than shown so it's too small to hold under an ice dispenser, you have to pour ice into a cup then put individual ice cubes in the hole. Also, if you order a paracord holder, it does not work with the neck of the bottle.
Like I said, it works great when it works. Bought for my son to make it easier for him to carry around school and to sports. Worked great for a month and the the rubber/plastic part broke making the entire handle useless. The handle just hangs off to the side and defeats the whole purpose. It fit the Iron Flask perfectly, just broke. Not sure if defective or just cheaply made. I was really excited about this and was completely let down
UPDATE!! I’m now on my 3rd one! So far both have broken! This last one, the plastic buckle broke and made the handle unusable. I didn’t bother returning the first one and won’t take time to return the second one. Have just ordered the third. Hoping they see my reviews and pics and will just refund my orders. This is stupid!!
Bought two of these as Christmas gifts, along with new Iron Flask water bottles. Attached the paracord handles and put the bottles back in box. Opened them yesterday for last inspection before gift wrapping, and found they had both split apart. Must be recent manufacturing defect, because I love Iron Flask products and have been carrying mine around by paracord handles for months.
Update: Excellent and prompt customer service. I contacted the seller through Amazon and received a full refund. They seemed pleased to know about the recent problem
My daughter has the half-gallon Iron Flask, which is great. Bought it to be a durable replacement for rigid plastic that shatters easily. But the handle is not designed to manage the weight of the full water bottle. The weight bearing ring that goes around the bottle broke within a week of daily use. It's too bad because the braided handle is really cool. They need to rethink the materials for the ring. Might be fine for a smaller/lighter bottle.
Compass doesn't work and the center pole of the clip is just magnesium not a striker so good luck finding fint in the wilds. Rape whistle and tiny sharp thingy are pretty cool though. I'm looking forward to using the whistle! I keep hanging out in downtown seattle but not a single taker. Maybe it's because i have a tiny sharp thingy on my water bottle.
I love the color of the handle and all of the extra features of the handle but the plastic ring that goes around the mouth snapped in half while I was trying to put it on. I can still use the handle because of the paracord ring that's around the mouth. But that too will be unusable if the black toggle for tightening breaks. Great design concept poor execution and material quality with regards to the plastic ring.
Bought one to go on my 64 oz Iron Flask and it worked great! Bought 2 more to go on my 32oz and my son’s 32oz Iron Flask and they both broke immediately. One started to unravel a week after using. The other broke right after I soaked it in warm water as the instructions stated to do. Not sure what’s going on. I really liked the product because it’s super handy, but I’m 1-3 on these. I’m sad.
Save your money. I have used this for 2 months and the plastic piece around the neck of my bottle broke. I haven’t touched it since I received it and put it on so it isn’t from applying and removing multiple times either. Looked down today and the plastic was split at the seam. In addition the compass has never been true to direction (wasn’t expecting much for the price but now the carrier is useless). I have only carried it to work and around the house so it isn’t like it has been roughly used. I looked on their site and warranty is only for “manufacture defects” and I would be responsible for postage to send in. Not worth the money when a replacement is the same as what shipping would likely cost. Not that I will be spending money on either since this broke after 2 months.
