I do not recommend this product for 2 reasons: The packaging and the quality.
First, the packaging. These are no longer shipped in the envelope package shown in the photos. Instead, they come in a fitted box with seals on the ends. However, the box ends and seals aren't enough to bear the weight of the parchment paper, so the package comes open during shipping. When I first received the package I thought I'd received an open product and returned it for a new one. However, when the second product came with the box ends open and seals broken (due to the weight of the parchment paper moving in the box during shipping), I realized the issue. Although the parchment paper is wrapped in plastic as well, when the plastic package is loose in the Amazon box it can tear and come open, exposing the parchment to the inside of the shipping box. (This happened to my first shipment, but not my second, so I kept the second and decided to use it rather than going through the hassle of returning it again.
Upon use, I came upon the second issue: quality. In short, food sticks to this more than it does to the regular parchment paper you can buy at the grocery store. I purchased this to use when I bake meringues (which is quite often), and it was extremely frustrating to discover that the meringues stuck to the paper and crumbled when I attempted to remove them. To make sure it wasn't just a bad batch of meringues (or user error is some other respect), I then lined 1 baking sheet with a roll of regular store-bought parchment paper, and 1 baking sheet with the Hiware sheet, and spread the meringue batter between them using the same oven, temperature, and amount of time. See the attached photo - nothing stuck to the store-bought paper, but everything stuck to the Hiware.
The only good things about this product are the price, the fact that it's precut, and the fact that it's flat rather than in a roll like the kind you can buy at the store. However, given that it gets messed up in shipping and doesn't actually work as parchment paper should, the bad outweighs the good. Not recommended.
I'm pleased with this product - in ignorance - but I'm not sure I'm ready to recommend it to my mom. The vendors claim it to be chlorine free, fluorescent free (?), and non toxic. But they also claim it to be made of wood pulp. Wood pulp does not do this on its own. So, what is it?
For perspective: carcinogens and endocrine disrupters are not toxic in the amounts that make them carcinogens and endocrine disrupters. They don't have to be toxic to be harmful. So what is it?
The product is fine. Arrived in a flimsy, and damaged cardboard box that had to be discarded. Now what do I do with 200 pieces of delicate parchment paper? What a pain to store now. Wish I'd spent a little more and gone with a better line of product.
I am so disappointed in this so called parchment paper. Like one reviewer said it is more like waxed paper. It is coated on both sides and makes a bigger mess than no liner at all. I will not be using this useless product since it make cleaning harder not easier. I am so sorry I ever purchased it!
I purchased these on the premise of other reviewers stating these do not absorb any grease. The test results showed, "that was a lie!" These absorb every bit of butter and oil you can think of. Truly defeats the purpose of buying parchment paper imo. In addition, these are super slippery. I didn't notice the difference until I purchased parchment paper from COSTCO and realized that I had an inferior product. I would not buy this item again.
These seem to work fine, but I've never seen a super slick finish like this. It's more like wax paper and less like parchment. I use parchment for everything, but I don't think these will work as well for piping bags and the like as the "regular" stuff.
I definitely think this paper is usable for putting your cookies on to cool down. It’s not the normal parchment paper you find in the stores. Very thin almost wax like In feel - I am sure it’s some type of parchment paper. But I’m going to have to find the thicker regular type of parchment paper to do my baking with.
This is wax paper. The entire point of parchment paper is that is unwaxed. As wax paper goes it good quality but selling wax paper as parchment paper is deranged. Yes, I checked and the box clearly says parchment paper on it, I wasn't sent the wrong item.
These are too small to fully cover a 1/2 sheet pan or jelly roll pan, which makes them pretty useless as precut parchment paper. When making cookies or baking other items, I can fit about half as many as the pan would normally allow because there’s so much extra room around the edges
