I've been using raw shea butter for a couple of years now and this is unlike any of the other blocks of shea I've purchased. But in a good way! I've always wondered why the other blocks were so hard, when shea butter looks soft when it's extracted. This block was soft and felt more silky to the touch,
I'm taking away a star because the packaging isn't resealable and it doesn't look like much effort went into it, but the product itself is extremely legit!
The "pure unrefined raw" shea butter was NOTHING like described. Not even the same color, texture or size. They sent me a melted down version of a different shea. (Completely overly greasy when put on hands) & WAY OFF from the photos like both were different products all together. & The "pure cocoa butter" was not the same texture or size as the photo as well. I received broken down scraps and it looked like leftovers from an original batch. Honestly they filled a bag with broken pieces kinda felt like "this is good enough". Both look like good enough products (trying to be positive & honest) however the black dirt specs that were in the shea is kinda nasty & unprofessional on the sellers part for allowing these type of issues to go through & actually get sold to a trusting person. @ The Yellow Brick Road ; I won't even ask for a refund or cause a fuss.. but some friendly advice, If your company wants people to trust your products also spend our $$$ on your products, PLEASE try and respect the buyer & DONT mislead the buyer with false photos. You may only get 1 sale when you could have had a returning customer. Anyways I dont recommend them. People should try a more professional brand on Amazon.
The stench is as expected and it was useful to use when I first started making my own cosmetics, but I find that when I put essential oils in lotions, it the smell of shea is overpowering and doesn't mix well with some oils. So i've started buying deodorized shea butter but this is an awesome supplier and if you don't mind the smell and just want the real stuff, i recommend it!
I used this to make some Chapstick but I didn't like the smell and don't know if that is normal. It did not effect the out come of my lip balm. That's why the 4 star. Can anyone tell me if the smell is normal? Almost like it's going bad but my first time using this so I don't know what it suppose to smell like. But again it did not effect the out come of my lip balm.
This is the only Shea butter I’ve tried and it was easy to use. I melted it with apricot kernel oil and lemongrass essential oil, and it’s such a dreamy body butter. The smell is unique but that’s just what Shea butter smells like. I’ve mixed it with cocoa butter too to sweeten the smell and that was nice. It’s a great base for different skincare products. I’ve also made hair masks with it and appreciate how moisturizing it is.
Doesn't have a scent and is perfect for the homemade moisturizer I make for my children. Good quality. I only wish it came in a ziplock or resealable bag, since you have to cut it to open it, I always lose a lot of product in the end.
I normally do not order this type of thing online as I like to see the texture and quality before purchasing. Due to COVID my normal store is not open so I had to make an online purchase. The item arrived quickly. I did like the expire date on the packaging. The smell is appropriate as well as the texture. The item is as described. I still prefer buying in person but if I had to buy online again, I would purchase from this seller again. Price was good as well. Item arrived quickly. The only reason I did not give 5 stars was because of the picture. Raw Shea butter is not always an even color. The picture is more in line with a refined Shea butter.
I received this product yesterday and made my body butter the same day. I have ordered/used other raw shea butter products in the past, but I am so happy I ordered this one. it was soft and creamy so it was easy to melt. The smell was great. I have had others that were very stiff and when it dried, it dried to the same stiff consistency. Therefore, I had to keep adding more of the carrier oil to get it to the whipped consistency. This, in turn, made my body butter very greasy. I am happy I ordered this!! The only reason why I did not give it 5 stars was because I haven't used it long enough to determine anything else. I literally only had it for a few hours? :)
It almost got a five star rating the reason it didn’t is I don’t find it as moisturizing as I do the yellow raw Shea butter. It does smell better than the yellow. I do like it on my curly locks. I rub into my wet shampooed hair really keeps the frizzy down
