I purchased the climbing belt to allow me to safely be on my steeply pitched roof while replacing wooden siding. I had not used similar equipment before but it worked very well. I felt very secure and I am very happy with the purchase. It seems to be very high quality.
While the overall quality is good, the waste strap is almost impossible to tighten. The leg straps are easy enough, but when you put this on the buckle design is such that to tighten it you need some kind of tool. I'm not sure yet. I'll have to experiment with it in order to understand how to do this. The d-rings are good and strong. Hope I can figure out how to tighten this thing. Be safe
I used this harness to work on a gazebo roof (10-15 ft high) that needed an extensive rebuild. Because I could not adequately tighten the waist-belt once I'd slipped the harness on, it actually slipped off as I was climbing down a ladder when I first used it. I ended up having to make some rubber suspenders that worked okay to keep the harness from slipping off during the rest (many hours) of the job. I'd return it, but who knows...I may need it again, and once it was modified , it worked fine.
I’ve been using this harness for a few months and so far I really like it. I really like having the three areas to connect to. You can use the side connectors as you climb up and use the center as a safety line if you like. It’s very easy to use and fits well.
The D rings will gouge your aluminum carabiners and due to the ruff lip in them I wouldn't tie a rope directly to them from the fear of it cutting the rope. Saying that if you have steel carabiners for a lineman rope to climb trees this will suit you well. But I ruined 2 sets of aluminum black diamond carabiners on my lineman rope connection in 1 day of use. Switched to steel and problem fixed. Spend a few more dollars and buy this harness with the smooth rings instead.
