I purchased the 4" round grips months ago and they are fantastic so I recently purchased the 3" ones as well. I and a friend have been using them for ninja warrior type work outs and they are top notch for the price. I have an expensive Atomic holds bannana grip and these grips are good in comparison.
The straps are the only problem. If you are just going to hang these and do pull ups, they work just fine. However, if you are putting them up and taking them down often or you are swinging/releasing and catching hold of these in the air, sometimes the velcro comes loose. Both I (190 pounds) and friend (150 pounds) have ended up pulling one off these off the bar (even after having tested the velcro set up to make sure it was tight. You can easily buy a strap with D rings and a clip that holds hundreds of pounds, and your in business.
The hold is fantastic and the velcro strap is good, but not for my intended purpose. I would give the combined product a 4.5 if you could give half stars, but the grips themselves are great.
Directions weren't great, but I just kept trying, and testing it each time after. Make sure you test it(!) before you throw your whole big self on these little balls or you're gonna put a hole in the ground with your backside.
Also would be nice if there was something to "warm up" or get stronger BEFORE using these. I normally do pull ups pretty easily, but this completely wrecked my forearms. I think I did a 1/4 to 1/3 of what I normally do.
both spheres are not equal, one is perfect and the other is misshapen you can feel the uneveness and ridges like the mold it was made of was warped, but in the end the are a cheapr and decent product so it does matter too much, I'm average build and bought the 3.5" and it seems a good fit for me.
I bought these when Covid struck. I looped them around rings I installed for the same purpose, and they have been great. Not much to say, as they don't have moving parts, but I guess I should mention how heavy they are. Solid. Easy to put together and fix. Tough workout. I am trying to not lose too much before climbing gyms reopen.
I did have an issue with one of them, minor, but the company was quick to respond and I had a replacement before I missed a single workout. Well worth the money and they stand behind their product.
First they did not come with the stainless steel hanger hooks mentioned in the description.
Second and most importantly, the problem I have is that one of the cannonballs is sphere and the other is more like an egg shape, not sure how it passed the quality inspection, but surely someone did a terrible job trying to fix it. One of the cannonballs instead of being rounded all around, one side is slanted. This is something I can definitely feel while working on holds. Seems as if there was a problem with the molding process and instead discarding the unit, they tried to add some resin to fix it, but did a poor job sanding leaving a bump and a slanted side in the process. There is a 24 gram difference between each cannonball, due to this poor fixing.
Also, they desperately need some additional finish texture, they are VERY slippery, without some sort of chalk on the hands they are almost to the point of impossible to grab, not due to their size.
Not sure of what material they are really made of, could be some kind of resin, I could not find this info on the listing or the web, neither about the maximum load capacity. Even when they feel sturdy, they also feel as they could break if accidentally dropped on the floor.
On the plus side, the color I received was matte black and not the shiny black as pictured (this is a good thing, as finger prints are less noticeable).
