I haven't used that much, so can't say if these bags will hold up over a lot of washing. But the seals work well, and the bags are quite sturdy. They came with a lot of plastic "dust" in them, not the best thing for a product that you put food into. It does rinse out, but wash them really well before use. Also, they're not that easy to get clean in the dishwasher, because they don't stay open on the rack. Still, as plastic bags are becoming rare in VT, these are a decent solution.
It does not have the capacity of a Ziplock gallon bags which these bags were replacing. The capacity is actually 0.80 gallon (I measured). The bags seem well made, they don't leak, and will probably last a long time.
So far, so good. I was happy to find a set of reasonably priced silicone gallon-sized bags. They are thick and do not conform to contents the way plastic bags do, which means they may not hold as many bricks of frozen food, but I’m willing to deal with that to reduce plastic use. They must be hand washed, which I did before use, but I haven’t emptied any from my freezer yet, so I don’t know how easily they’ll clean; however, they come with a little brush to clean the zip track.
I love everything about the bags. The only thing I notice is that the bag holds onto the scent of whatever was in it. Since it can't be washed with hot water, you have to be ok with that if you buy these bags. It doesn't seem to effect the outcome of the next meal that goes into the bag. It also doesn't bother me enough to care, but worth noting if it would bother you. Perhaps there is a "best soap" to use, but I just use a natural soap comparable to Dawn.
As previously stated, the bags are still in the freezer so experience with cleaning (without hot water!) and knowing the freshness of the bags is still unknown (ie: odors removed, etc). Given the seal and durability of the bags, I do expect the food to retain its freshness. I do like the ability to put on and remove a label easily.
I purchased by reusable bags during the COVID 19 pandemic lockdown. I mainly used them to store ice in them since my icemaker broke and I didn't want to leave my house just to buy ice. I would make my ice cubes using an old school ice cube tray and used the bags to store it. The bags were very sturdy and were easy to wash. The seal was very tight...almost too tight, but that was the only negative. They are good sturdy bags.
I'm really liking these so far. The seal is tight enough that I can freeze things sideways, and I feel so much more comfortable using these than throwaway bags. I find it's hard to get the smell of foods out of the material, which could be a problem in the future. For now I'm just trying to add vinegar to potent smells when I wash them.
These are really nice bags and I'm glad I bought them. Except they say they're gallon-sized and they don't quite hold as much as a regular Ziploc bag because they don't stretch at all. They are also very difficult to pull open once you have them completely zip closed. If you don't have a lot of strength in your hands then maybe get another kind
The bags are good quality for every day food storage. We prep packets of veggies in the fridge for juicing These hold all that is needed for a batch that serves 4. The only thing that I would like as a feature in the bags is a higher tolerance for higher temperatures. My son enjoys buffalo wings and uses bags to shake the sauce on the chicken.
