First, it has a nice sheen to it and is not just flat grey, so that's cute. You can't fill it all the way to the top or it will be hard to use and the water will fall out when you try to pour it. I fill it about up to the eyes and that's easier. When you first pour it there is a chance you will overshoot where you are trying to pour, luckily for me I was using it outside so it didn't spill everywhere. Once you get the hang of how much tension you need to aim the water where you want it to go it's great. I like the long trunk/spout because it helps me to direct the water on target better and it gets under the leaves well so that I'm not getting water on the leaves. I use this for small pots so I only have to fill it once, if you're watering bigger pots you'll likely need to fill it again for each plant to get the water pouring out the bottom drainage holes.
I made a patio herb garden for my daughter and granddaughter but wanted to give them an easy way to water it (apartment life). My granddaughter's nursery is decorated with jungle animals so I originally selected this to be a little kitschy. I was pleasantly surprised with the durability, especially for the price when it arrived.
That's a 1yr old holding it and watering by herself in the picture!
This watering can is ADORABLE & the perfect size for watering my orchids. I can really reach under the large firm leaves with this can. Only drawback is the seam is rather thin & I don’t know how long this will hold up before it starts leaking right below the trunk. I enjoy writing honest reviews for my fellow Amazonians & I hope you find this review helpful. CHEERS!
I recently started taking to plant tending and have several plants in my bedroom. I wanted a watering can that would match with my décor and not be a plain old watering can. This one works perfect! It's very thick plastic and sturdy. The nose part is nice and long and the water flows out nicely. Some other comments said it was hard to tilt without spilling, but I'm not really sure what they're talking about I didn't have any problem with that. It holds a lot of water too! I usually can fill it once and have enough to water ~7 small plants and 2 larger plants twice.
I thought it was going to be much smaller but I am not complaining. Got it for my daughter who loves to water all her plants in and outside the house. This is the right size as it doesn't make it so heavy for her. Spouts water out just fine but once in a while, it will spill some out. Looks cute as an added bonus.
Update: I was sent a replacement and he is in perfect condition. Adjusted from 3 to 5 stars. ______________
This little guy is adorable and I am so happy with how he looks!
There are two negatives, first, he has a hole along the seam of his chest that leaks really badly. I was surprised because it appears to be small but so much water came out of it-I was quite surprised. Second, the filling hole is positioned forward on the elephant's head so if you pour too quickly when the reservoir is full water comes out of the filling hole as well.
If I can stop the leak, he is going to be great for my purposes. Holds just enough water for me and is cute as a button.
I am going to try some hot glue to plug the hole on his chest and if that doesn't stop the leak I am going to ask for a replacement.
This water elephant is so much cuter than what I thought it would be. It is the perfect size for the plants I have. The trunk lets the waternout at a more controlled stream than those big bulky watering cans. This is a must have and perfect for those that have issues with their wrists. Easy to hold, tilt for pouring water, and awesome control of water flow.
I'll just caveat this review with the fact that I am a very beginner, amateur gardener. However, this watering can is not only stylish and looks great, but the long spout is perfect for getting under leaves and ensuring water can get directly to the soil. I don't fill this all the way to the top, only about 3/4 way full, but it does fill with more than enough water for my 5 houseplants. I've had no leaks or cracks and the product arrived the next day.
There is a hole in the handle that looks like a manufacturing defect from the molding process. It's small and I can hold my finger over it for now. I love the cute little thing, but I'm going to have to use duct tape or something else to seal up that hole to make it useful. :(
