I have now installed two of these fan remote controls. This was my choice after the pull-chain switch broke. A search for replacement pull-chain switches revealed that only very low quality pull switches seem to be available. My wife also always had trouble reaching the pull chain. The pull chain is hard for anyone to find in the dark.
One of my fans hangs from a drop rod, and the switch housing under the fan was a bit too small to allow installation of this control. I am an electronics technician, and I was able to work around this limitation by removing the unit from the black plastic enclosure, and carefully trimming a slight bit off of two corners of the circuit board. I then wrapped to circuit board in electrical tape to preclude any short circuits from contact with the metal housing, or screws. I was then just able to fit the control box into the fan switch housing. But a better, less complex solution might be to remove the fan form the ceiling entirely, and mount the control box inside the ceiling outlet box. Another reviewer found this solution to work.
There was a problem with the second controller that I received. The "middle" and "low" speed settings were way too slow. The "low" setting barely moved the fan blade at all. I inspected the circuit board and found one of the capacitor leads was not properly soldered. It was quick work to re-solder this connection, and the controller had worked fine since.
In spite of these small problems, I am very positive regarding this product, and give it five stars.
This universal 53T remote successfully replaced my Hampton Bay SKU # 276-337 Remote. Everything works, lights on/off, Dim, all three fan speeds. I bought the remote transmitter and receiver combo just in case the remote was incompatible, but I didn’t need the receiver. I simply matched the dip switches to the old remote and inserted a new 9 volt battery. The new remote even fits in the old wall mount. Very happy with this solution.
The old remote is also known as UPC # 792145326762 , Vendor # 11289 .
I am not sure this model will work for you, it did for me. It was an easy fix.
I purchased these mainly for a bedroom, so i also purchased their built-in wall mounted switch to replace an old light switch with no fan option. I went with these due to the frequency that they run at, well clear of wifi and not Bluetooth, so they won't interfer with our main wifi signals. They do have 4 switches to control what channel the device is on. In our case we have two of these devices so there isn't any interference at all. And since i have only a regular Lightswitch on the wall, this works great because no going into the attic to run another electrical line down or cutting into the wall to make the junction larger. I do highly recommend this version and not the regular version. The size of the sensor is a lot easier to tuck into the fan base here.
I installed a new ceiling fan this year and the remote control module caused the bulbs to buzz audibly. It annoyed me so I tried another module from the hardware store and the buzzing was worse. I determined that the buzzing was caused by the dimming feature of the module. Dimming is a feature I don't really use so I figured I'd do away with it all together. I went back to the hardware store and couldn't find a module that didn't dim, so I wound up finding this module on Amazon. All in all, it's decent. The actual module is smaller than what I could find at the hardware store, which made the flush-mount fan easier to install. The biggest downside I can find is that when you turn the light on and off, you can hear a relay inside the module clicking. It almost sounds like a turn signal. I will take a single click over constant buzzing any day, but it would be nice to have a fan that didn't make any noise.
This product worked as intended, except when it started to turn on by itself. Both the fan and the light, usually the light, will randomly turn on of their own free will. It's very inconvenient and irritating when the bedroom lights come on several times in the middle of the night and has caused me to replace this product with something else. I'm not sure if it's a faulty receiver or incompatible product types, but I had to replace it when it started waking me up at night.
Update: I tried this brand, Eogifee, other smart universal ceiling fan controllers and had the same problem with them randomly turning on and off on their own. This brand has major manufacturing issues that make their entire product line worthless. I would avoid at all costs.
Installed this in the master bedroom ceiling fan/light fixture. Even though the receiver is smaller than most, it took some work making it fit in the housing, mainly due to the wiring. Otherwise installation went smoothly and the remote controller fan and light buttons work fine. Only problem, not a biggie, is the fan speeds (low, medium, high) are all noticeably slower than before installation. Review update: After a few days of use, I'm changing my rating to 5-stars, since the slower fan speeds turned out to be my mistake...didn't pre-set the fan speed to "high" before mating up the remote control unit.
I bought this wireless remote control for my daughter’s room, the one we had in there previously only lasted about a year and did not work very well, so I was skeptical to buy this one. However, to my surprise this one works very well and was relatively inexpensive compared to other similar devices. It is slightly larger than the previous one we had bought, which at first I wasnt too happy about, but when I thought about it I'm actually glad it is slightly bigger, for my children often pretend its their cell phone, so that makes it easier to spot around the house. The instructions were pretty straight forward and most people should be able to install this product as long as the directions are followed. If your not comfortable working with electrical wires or have no experience I suggest asking someone who knows what their doing. I like being able to turn the light on and off as well as the fan and have control of the fan speeds, it makes it a lot easier for the children to use the fan as well. Overall this is a great product at a great price and after we use it for a period of time to verify its going to last, we will be buying more.
I used this to replace a similar unit that came with my Lamps Plus Fandelier. This unit is smaller than the Lamps Plus unit but it it is also slightly thicker - had to wedge it in but it went in eventually. Install was easy. Works with my old Lamps Plus remote too as dictated by the pin settings on the unit. Only dislikes is it doesn’t dim (which I don’t really use much anyway) and the unit makes an audible click when you turn it on and off- sounds like a light switch being flipped inside the unit.
It's quiet, it doesn't have a dimmer function or wifi connectivity, but the quiet operation is well worth it. I had another unit and it made a loud buzzing sound and the wifi never actually worked... And it would randomly flicker... This one is good its simple but it works and I can finally sleep without earplugs. Just a side note... I had to mess around with the remote switches. If your remote isn't working just open the battery compartment and use a small screwdriver to flip those little switches for some reason the instructions said match the switches to the remote but it didn't work when I did that, I just started trying different combinations on the remote and after about a minute I found one that worked.
I bought two of these for the ceiling fans on the deck. This was the smallest universal receiver I could find as I also purchased their in wall control unit. The units came with clear directions but were still a bit to large to fit in fan canopy. I ended up removing ceiling box and putting the receivers in ceiling space and then reinstalling ceiling box. Worked perfectly. Controller in wall inside controls both fans at about 20' away. I'm use the included hand held remotes outside. Very happy overall with this system and did not need to replace existing fans.
