I have had these speakers since April 14th, They have now stopped working and now create this clapping noise. Speakers were well taken care of and only turned on for watching movies. Now that they have stopped working I will try to return them. They lasted me a month which is not impressive at all, but while they did work they were very good, specially for the price. Good speakers, just hope they don’t break down after a month.
Update: all of a sudden they don’t have any power! I can’t get them to turn on anywhere. Also, tough to find any tech support or assistance.
I'm using these speakers for home recording. The bass levels actually surprised me, I didn't think I'd get something like this for the price. You could always get better ones, but not in this price point. I'm very pleased and definitely recommend this product!
I do not recommend opening or modifying your speakers. Do not try this at home.
Decent inexpensive speakers, uniquely includes a built in DAC for direct USB sound. In the end better options elsewhere.
My first issue is they don't seem to actually support aptX, atleast in Android 11 / Google Pixel 4 XL. SBC only.
My second issue is the DAC appears to be a 16-bit/48 kHz.
Finally my set has a bad rattle at moderate volume, >70dB. The rattle is somewhere on the control board (RCA, 3.5mm, micro USB board). I was able to greatly reduce it with a couple of fixes but not eliminate it.
The first was copiously hot gluing the control board and cable connectors, at least one was loose enough to rattle when touched (Black and white pair).
The second was tightening the screws holding the control board onto the back plate, my top screw was very loose and not loctited.
Thirdly the micro USB port has 2 problems; 1) it seems to rattle against the back plate, if I hold it with a small probe like a mechanical pencil tip it stops. 2) somehow it's allowing the remaining rattle to exit the speaker unimpeded. Placing a piece of electrical tape over the connector greatly reduced the overall volume of the rattle.
After all these fixes I've reduced the volume and changed the overall tone of the rattle. I can get to almost 80dB with neutral bass before it bothers me. But I can't unhear it, so I'm painfully aware of it.
There's still rattle from the back plate, and I believe I'm hearing some from the faux tweeter. Neither of these I can find a fix for.
In the end I replaced these with some Edifiers and I'm much happier. These are now functioning as computer speakers at moderate volume, not for music.
As I've opened these up and modified them I can't return them, so lesson learned. Would not buy again.
THIS SPEAKER DOES NOT HAVE APTX - APTX is a bluetooth codec made by Qualcomm that improves latency and sound quality. I tested this with 2 different Qualcomm devices. (Galaxy Z Fold 2, Xiaomi Mi Lite 11).
THIS SPEAKER DOES NOT HAVE A 24 BIT DAC - I plugged this in via USB (which it instructs you to do) and my computer let me know that his speakers is a measly 16 bit DAC.
THE SOUND QUALITY IS TERRIBLE - the quality of the sound is poor at best. They are nice size bookshelf speakers and pump out volume, but the highs are so distorted it will make listening to your music or movies a worse experience
I gave 2 stars because the build quality and look of the speakers is actually quite well done. The manufacturing was really good and the white and black theme looked amazing, but besides that, these speakers aren't even good for sub $100 speakers.
