Sleeping is very difficult for me. The smallest noise can wake me up. I'm using help to reduce those noises for years. So far tried foam earplugs, wax - no success -, and custom molded earplugs that made my nights peaceful. Just until I moved to a place next to a train station. No surprise, it couldn't help it.
I was thinking a lot about this product as it's extremely expensive even compared to a high end earbuds, that can play the music you like as well. But can you put a price on good sleep? Let's figure it out.
When it has arrived, I was impressed. But like I couldn't find a product that felt more premium. I couldn't wait until sleep, so tried, and it was comfortable, and reduced (not blocked) the noise around me, so I put high hopes. Had a difficult time choosing the right tune though, as most of them are pretty much the same, and most of them are annoying instead of calming, but found one finally.
Tried the first night, and it was comfortable, and haven't noticed the train, so earned what I wanted. However, after 3-4 hours, wake up just to turn it off.
You can't judge something after first use, so used for a few more nights, same happened, just lasted for less and less each night. At the last night, turned off before felt asleep, and that's when I returned it.
Does it mean you shouldn't try it? Definitely not. Sleeping is a thing that is different for anyone, and because Bose, and Amazon is very generous, you can try it without worrying that you couldn't return it. Here are my points that you may consider:
- it is comfortable (for side/stomach sleeping as well)
- it reduces noise effectively, but there's no magic, the tunes do it that can be annoying because they are repeated sounds
- it is light, but tight, so you don't have to worry about they are falling out
- it is very expensive, and can't listen to your music on it - however, this is just the price of making them so light, and small to be comfortable
I really appreciate Bose's effort to help on a very specific user group, there must be a lot of development, and research going on to help us, that's why no one can blame them because of the price.
If it gets more attention, more development, and research, I can see it becoming not just a help for people with sleeping problems, but improving sleep for people who slept well originally as well.
Decide based on the above if you give it a try, but I would definitely recommend at least trying it, there's nothing to lose, but a lot to gain.
