This is an all-metal design, so it's definitely sturdy. But it's also a bit heavy. Plus, it's very stiff which is both good and bad -- it's good because the device won't collapse when a laptop is placed on it, but also bad because it's difficult to adjust to an exact position.
My main gripe about the product is that it claims to have over a 10" height. Technically, that is true -- but in practice, if you were to straighten the bottom leg out fully, then the entire thing will tip over backwards when you place a laptop on it, no matter how you angle the tray. Practically, you have to have the lower leg angled in order to have the top tray adjusted properly. So the usable height of this is probably closer to 7" or so. If that's high enough for you, then this is a decent product to consider . But if you're looking for something that can extend 10" high as advertised, this isn't the tray you want.
This laptop stand is hard as the devil to open and close and get into position. At one point I had to put all my heft into yanking it open... which jammed it closed on the other side, pinching bruising the skin on my arm painfully. Ouch!
If you get this laptop stand don't intend it to be something that you open, close, move around, and travel with; you'll want to get it into the position you want and just leave it there. It's also a bit tricky to get it into a position that will elevate and angle your laptop how you want it, but still be balanced without falling over.
Brocoon has a quality product to include quality material and functionality. Purchased this laptop stand for a secondary area to set up a redundant system in the event my 11 year old laptop starts having issues. The Brocoon laptop stand is a great space saver, helps reduce heat as it's aluminum, light weight, easy to transport and can support weights up to 30+ pounds. This stand will provide the functionality and adjustments I need when traveling in my MotorHome. Talk about the ideal tool, well this checks all the boxes, set up virtually anywhere, keeps your laptop secure and out of the way until needed. The stand fits in my backpack for easy transport. Do yourself a favor, purchase this version of laptop stand versus a cheaper model you won't be sorry...
Some say this stand is stiff and hard to bend into position. True. And that's exactly why I love it.
Put a little muscle into setting the shape of the stand to your needs, then rest easy and go about your business. And by the way, I tried ordering a more expensive stand from a company that stalled and delayed until I finally cancelled my request. I'm glad I came to my senses. I've saved 20 bucks for a stand that fits my needs.
If you are the type to make constant, small adjustments throughout the work day, then maybe this isn't for you. But I prefer to adjust my chair or moveable desk top.
If you don't have the strength to adjust this stand, get some help from a friend or family member. The price is right, and the durability is excellent.
This is a high quality stand. I really love it, except for the fact that the hole on top to let air get to my fan doesn’t line up with the fan on my Dell Inspiron 15 5000 laptop. And the built in laptop legs hang off it so when I put the computer on the stand, the fan lays directly on it and no air can circulate. I am going to get some felt pads (like the kind you put on chair legs) and try to raise it up that way. The stand is sturdy and well-built. It would probably work better with a smaller laptop or Chromebook. I think the manufacturer should consider making the silicon non-slip pads a little thicker. That might raise it up enough for air to get under it.
I searched and read lots of reviews before deciding on this one and am glad I purchased it. Looks, stability are great. Yes, it is hard to open and close but then you're sure your laptop is safe. The "hooks" hold the laptop and rubber pieces make sure it doesn't move. Purchased to replace an old style huge stand that took up too much room on the desk. LOVE this one! Would purchase again.
I am a mobile DJ that drives a scooter to gigs around town, so product sturdiness and a portable design are vital for me because my laptop, controller, cables, and stand all need to fit together into one case. This laptop stand meets every need that I have and far exceeds the utility of other cheaper foldable laptop "stands" (notably those metal stick-shaped ones with adjustable notches that simply raise the backside). This stand keeps the laptop a good height from the table and holds firm at any angle, again essential for an environment where people are often bumping into things and drinks occasionally spill. I also own several of these stands for use in my home studio, where they provide height and support for audio equipment such as mixers and small synthesizers/samplers. I highly recommend this stand, it's basically the most low-profile you can get without making compromises on usability and design.
Bought this to use as a laptop holder during building automation controls work. Purchased rubber coated magnets with studs and then drilled and tapped the back side of this stand to attach the magnets. Works great and is very sturdy to support even a heavier laptop if needed. Much cheaper option than the pre made laptop work platforms sold here - less that half the price even with the magnets. Folds up neatly for easy transport.
I recently purchased a new 16” MacBook Pro and wanted a stand to go with it. I saw this stand came in Space Gray and was a decent price, so I ordered it.
So far it seems pretty good. Mine does seem to be a little off center, but nothing to major.
Also as others have stated, the hinges on this stand are VERY stiff/rigid, so it can be difficult to move this into the position you want. However, this does help in ensuring that the stand doesn’t not fold/collapse when a laptop is placed on it.
