If you've ever had a cat, you know the frustration of having an open cup of water around. They stick their paws in it, their face in it, their tail in it... for an animal who hates water they're obsessive about water cups. Well, my little bugger was chewing on the straw of my favorite cup in the middle of the night, which has a lid, and making the water taste funny. I thought something was up with the pipes and even called maintenance, and then I caught her in the act one night. So, I asked around for solutions, and someone showed me these.
With the way the cap covers the straw, she can't get to that. She can't push the button because the lock slider takes more leverage to move than she get. Oh, she's tried! But she cannot get the grip on it without knocking it over. I get laughs, she gets frustrated. It's a win-lose in my favor!
I've not had it for long but I really love it so far and look forwards to continuing to use it.
Ease to clean: pretty good for a water bottle. the wide mouth is a blessing for a bottle scrubber brush to fit in. The straw is wide enough for a straw cleaner, though I generally don't clean the cap since I'm always using it for water alone.
Cons: Insulation property of -5. The ice cubes melt instantly. They last longer in an open plastic cup tbh. But, this isn't really an issue for me specifically as I mostly just want to keep litter paws out of my water.
I got a water bottle after I spilled a giant cup of water while on Zoom with my therapist when I was complaining about how much I hate spilling things. I ordered this. It sucks the drink up the straw if I don’t immediately close the spout. If I wanted to close the spout after every sip I would have just put a lid on my cup. But now this, this MONSTER does the spilling for me. I made my cocktail and of course it’s red. I had a puddle of red liquid all over my tray when I returned to my drink a few minutes later. I took a time lapse of it to prove to myself I wasn’t imagining it. And then I just went to take a drink and opening the spout caused it to erupt like a volcano. Like, if I had gotten just a cardboard box, it would be easier to use as a cup. They had to work really hard to make a cup that doesn’t work. Like, think about that. Anything can be used as a cup. Yet I bought this cup, and it went out of its way to expel liquids from itself. Don’t get this man, the cup does the drinking for you and that’s messed up.
I purchased these water bottles for my daughters to use while at school. I love that they hold a good amount of water BUT unfortunately they leak. If the bottle remains upright, it won’t leak. If it is upside down or on its side, it will continuously drip. I tried shoving the straw up as far as it will go and it made no difference. So if you plan to keep the water bottle upright, this is a great option. If you are planning on sending these with your kiddo to school, you will end up with a wet backpack and homework folder.
I usually love Contigo products and own several of their products but these water bottles are the worst. they seem to build up pressure so when you open the spout with the button it splashes all over the place. Wish I could return these I would give it zero stars if I could.
I had the previous Contigo water bottles that lasted me about 5 years and loved them! Finally broke so I ordered two new ones. I have to say I prefer the older handle that was stationary. when I go to take a drink I either have to put the handle up or it’s in my way and hits my mouth and I have to put it down. Pretty irritating. And the new mouthpiece is shorter and wider. I prefer the longer narrower mouthpiece on older model. Washing is great in the dishwasher taking it apart never had a problem with mildew. Like the contour of the body easy for gripping.
Best water bottle hands down. Leak-proof and hold up well to use. I love that the sipper is folded away from the external elements. This bottle drink mechanism can be tricky to clean. I have to use q-tips and straw cleaners to prevent black water mold-which can happen over long periods of use. Beyond that I have these bottles for everyone in my family to cut back on bottled water. I use them for work, gym, hiking, biking, daytrips-work great every time. Highly recommend.
Gave it 3 stars but more like 1-2. Pros Bottle is well built, does not leak and feels well constructed. Has a lock and is a nice size.
Cons States a slanted straw to get every drop but the straw is too short, see picture, so no you miss a bunch. The soft straw top is open so you can spill. The spring lock is strong so when you open the bottle liquid trapped in the straw sprays out. If it's a colored liquid the get ready for stains. Enjoy getting wet or having to slow the spring open straw.
Overall Even though it seems well built you will need a new straw or it won't reach the bottom and getting sprayed and having to worry every time you put colored liquid in the bottle makes this only good for water.
I would never give this to a child or they will spill and make a mess.
The cons greatly outweigh any positives so this is a no buy and should be 1-2 stars. Gave it 3 but that was generous.
I really like the size of these -- easy to hold and fit well into just about any bottle or cup holder in a vehicle. However, the pop-up spout mechanism in one of them broke within the first 10 uses. Pretty disappointing.
